How to Save Money Dining Out

Dine out during Happy Hour times. Happy hour prices can be up to half off lunch and dinner prices.

Use coupons. Search for coupons on the Internet before making reservations. Many restaurants off coupons on the Internet for half off meals and/or 2 for 1 meals

Split dinners. Dine at a restaurant that you know has heaping servings and then just split the dinner, and the bill.

Order from the appetizer menu instead of the dinner menu. Make the appetizers your meal. Sometimes a couple of appetizers are cheaper than one dinner.

Eat at a buffet restaurant. An "all you can eat" buffet is even better!

Order water instead of sodas and alcohol. Water if free!

If you are a senior citizen, ask if there is a senior citizen discount. Some restaurants will give senior citizens up to 20% off.

Ask for a doggy bag. This will provide you with a meal for the following day. It's like getting a 2 for 1.

Purchase gift certificates from restaurant.com. They offer $25 gift certificates discounted to $10. The gift certificates can be printed from your printer. Use the gift certificate to save on your bill.

If you have kids, save money dining out by eating at restaurants that offer free meals for kids.

If you are eating at a place like McDonald's, save money by ordering off the kid's menu.

Save dining out by dining at lunchtime instead of dinnertime. Lunch prices are lower than dinner prices.

Dine at restaurants that offers a free appetizer with your meal.

Save by skipping dessert. Stop by and grab a dessert from an ice cream store, bakery or grocery store on your way home instead.

Save money dining out by dining in. A steak and lobster cost less to make at home than it does to eat at a restaurant.
