3 Tips to Cut your Grocery Bills!
As a mom to 7 kids aged 13 and under, we go through a lot of food. A lot of groceries. We are on one income and my husband works for a non-profit organization, so we are never going to be rich. One way I have found to cut down on our grocery bills is to use coupons. I read the grocery circulars and plan my shopping around what is on sale. I clip coupons. I bulk buy when I see great deals. I used to think that using coupons was not worth the time and effort it took, but now I notice that I am saving sometimes up to 50% of my total bills. I figured it was part of my job as manager of my home to use my time to save money. Plus I get an adrenaline rush when I see that total go down, down, down at the check out counter. I thought I'd share some tips for couponing that any average, busy mom can use.

Tip 1: Subscribe to your local Sunday paper
It's a GREAT source of coupons!
I have found one of the easiest ways to get lots of coupons is to subscribe to my local Sunday newspaper. Most weeks there are more than one bundle of coupons in the Sunday paper. Some weeks I score 3 bundles of coupons. It costs me $8.60 to have Sunday home delivery and I will save at least $100 or more from the coupons in the paper. If you want more coupons, you can get multiple copies of the Sunday paper.

Tip 2: Use Internet coupons
Subscribe to coupon email lists and blogs
I get emails from several coupon and deal sites. I have included some of these in the link list below. There are many coupons that you can print from the internet, both from coupon sites and places like facebook. Some lists send daily digests of deals and printable coupons, others send you weekly reminders or monthly reminders when printable coupons are re-loaded. I have found that Walmart and my local grocery stores accept these printed coupons. The savings add up! Many times the writers of the couponing blogs have done all the homework for you and will match up major stores (such as Target, Rite Aid, CVS or grocery stores) with the coupons and deals available. I have listed the ones I use most in the link list following.

Tip 3: Read your store circular
Shop according to what's on sale and combine sales with coupons
We get store circulars delivered right to our mailbox weekly. Other circulars come in the Sunday newspaper (stores such as Target, Rite Aid, CVS and Walmart). Read through them to find out what is on sale, then look through your coupons to see what matches up. You can save a bundle by combining store "buy one, get one" sales with coupons. Many stores double the coupon savings too. Plan your menus based on what is one sale. Some sites like The Coupon Mom match coupons to store savings weekly for you.
