- Great tips and lots of common sense, too. Scheduling loop driving for errands is my biggest savings. I keep suggesting to my husband to do the same, but he's not hearing me. I do however hear him complain about the money he spends on gas. Well... surprise, surprise. :)

- I don't really agree on the shop with your fingers. I know it might save gas. However, I think people need to get out and shop at local stores. It gives them exercise and a chance to get out of the house. Because nowadays you can do pretty much anything without leaving home. So that's what I think. However nice lens.

- I agree with your comment. So I revised the text on this point recommending that people use this option with local merchants. I also agree that it's a good idea to go out to meet people. Most purchases benefit from talking with the salespeople. Thank you for speaking up.

- Excellent points made!
I'm all for economizing in gas (and in any other occasions!).
I think most of the tips you're giving, such as shopping in a loop, not bothering to drive long miles to save pennies, tuning up the engine, etc are so logical and self-evident, that I'm really surprised to see people scratching their heads and replying, "Yeah, you're right, I haven't thought of it..."
And I feel so sad (and, yes, I admit it, angered), when I see people shrugging and going about their usual (polluting!) routines, just because they don't care to alter little behaviors...

- You have some great tips here. I have just returned from three weeks in the USA and I have to say that fuel is still a lot cheaper there than most western countries. We pay the equivalent of around $5.70 per gallon here in Australia in the cities. It only gets more expensive the further out you travel or if you want premium fuel. The only time I saw gas prices anywhere near our cheapest prices was in Isolated places like Death Valley. The cheapest I saw was in Nevada and was around $2 per gallon better than anything you can get here in Australia. Keep up the awesome work and congrats on LOTD. :-)

- Well the best way I have saved on gas is to drive slow. I had to drive a long distance with my Ford F150 and so I went only 50 miles per hour instead of the 75 miles per hour and it saved me $300. The trip to was $400 dollars and the trip same distance was $100. People get mad when you drive slow like that but I did not have enough money to drive back. So now I drive like an old Granny and let everyone honk at me!

I see people gunning it past me and I know how much extra gas they are using. My foot has become very light on the pedal, but I am still getting great power from the car. I wish I had know how to drive this way about 30 years ago...but glad I am doing it now.

- Congrats on LotD! Wish I could save more money on gas, but as you point out driving 10 miles to a cheaper gas station saves nothing, and in our case it's across a bridge with a toll!

- I save gas/money by pulling up at the end of the pick up line at our school. Especially in the late spring and late fall when the temperatures in Texas require the use of the AC. I refuse to sit in the line idling when I can just pull up in a timely manner and drive right through!
Great lens for all of us to be reminded on how to save gas or implement new ways! Congrats!

- "Every two minutes of letting the engine idle is equivalent to driving a mile." I found that very surprising. I never leave my car running but I know a lot of people do. I'll have to start telling people to turn the darn thing off while they run in the store. Nice lens and congrats on LOTD

- Not sure about the UK, but here in the US, they are starting to drive the electric cars. There is so much political nonsense in Congress against them from oil company lobbyists. If I still worked, I might consider one. Gas keeps increasing here for really no reason. There is no shortage, it's just because they can with little or no regulation. Squid Angel blessed!

- My husband works in the envronment sector so we are very clued up about the cost to the environment and our pockets through running cars. As a result, we have just one and he cycles to work most of the time. We plan ahead when each of us will need the car and as a result we only fill up once a month and our average mileage per year is way less than the national average.
Our gas consumption would be even less if it was not for the fact that my mother and my son live an hour's drive away.

- I go by #7 all the time now. When I have to go to the larger towns around for doctor appointments or something else., I will shop there. Otherwise, it is shop at home. I always get after my daughter because she will drive 40 miles to save on a couple of items. I tell her if she is not going to do all of her shopping, she may as well buy at the grocery store in her town even though they charge a little more. I told her she would be saving a little that way or at least breaking even with the cost.
