Does Cyber Monday ride the coat-tails of Black Friday?
Do you want cheap prices, "shop in your underwear" convenience, anytime shopping hours, and free shipping? Then check out Cyber Monday, the first Monday after Thanksgiving and the official kick off of the online holiday shopping frenzy.
Online shopping is what differentiates Cyber Monday from Black Friday, traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year. Additionally, unlike just one day of Black Friday sales, Cyber Monday deals can last from just one day to almost a month, depending on the retailer.
With Cyber Monday, there's no more standing in lines, arriving at the crack of dawn for the best deals, and fighting the crowds and traffic. And if you're from a small town without a big mall, that's not a problem with online shopping. Regardless of your location or the weather, you can save big with hot deals on toys, electronics, computers, designer clothing, and home decor!
When you think of Cyber Monday, what do you think of?
Online deals at big box stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy?
With stores jockeying for market share, expect to save even more this year thanks to the lingering recession. Think about it. Except for the turkey or ham, who wants leftovers after Christmas? Excess inventory is a retailer's nightmare.
You can stretch your holiday dollars even more by shopping online for new or gently used items at consignment stores, resale shops, and at eBay stores. To find an online or local resale store, check out the Consignment Pal Resale Directory. Since these stores already have reasonable prices to begin with, when you pile on additional discounts, you save BIG!

10 Tips for Cyber Monday Success
2. Think of your family and friends.
3. Picture their favorite items and wildest desires, i.e. CDs, electronics, jewelry, etc..
4. Remember, it's the thought that counts, not the dollar value of the gift. But hey, if you you can buy their gift at 75% off during Cyber Monday sales, then SPOIL them!
5. Actually write down your Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa gift list. Stick to your list unless a better deal pops up.
6. Add a few things for yourself too so your spouse and mom won't have to agonize over what to get you for Christmas.
7. Pick the top two or three stores most likely to have each item. For example, want a computer? Check out notebooks at the HP, Dell Computers, Best Buy, etc.
8. To prevent disappointment, shop early while supplies last. Note the expiration date of each Cyber Monday sale, i.e. just one day, one week, or until Christmas Day.
9. For big box store Cyber Monday deals, head straight to the official Cyber Monday website. Check out the screenshots above for hot discounts. Are you drooling yet?
10. For other hot deals from smaller retailers, check out Google, Shopping.com, and
eBay.
