- "Each American generates an average of 3.5 pounds of trash daily. During the holidays, Americans generate an additional five million tons of trash. With these facts in mind, we should all consider putting some green gifts on our holiday shopping list. But don't fret. There are lots of ideas for earth friendly gifts."
This is the introduction to an excellent article about giving green gifts for the holidays to help with the conservation and pollution efforts. But green gifts aren't just for holidays. With birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, weddings, and on and on happening all year long, it really adds up.
I would go so far as to say if everyone concentrated on environmentally conscious gifts all through the year that it would make a significant difference in pollution, land fill problems, and other environmental concerns.

Cool Product Expo
Could Have Been Named Green Product Expo
- Cool Product Expo
- The "Cool Product Expo" had its seventh annual show April 11, 2007. It was open to the public and free. A drawing was held for a free Gibson Les Paul guitar. It is held annually at the Stanford University School of Business and is sponsored by Alliance for Innovative Manufacturing and the Product Design Club at the Stanford Business School.
So, what defines "cool"? Well, even the creators aren't sure how to define that. According to the official website, cool is determined by three criteria: factor, edge, and function. Factor is defined by just looking at something and its very vibe is "cool". Edge is a product that is completely new, not just an item that has been improved or built upon another product. Function means the perfect combination of design and useability.
The exhibitors were a mixture of well-known companies along with entrepreneurial hopeful inventors. Many environmentally friendly products were featured.
Cool Earth Solar showed off inflatable mirrors that are way cheaper to make than aluminum mirrors. The company claims that the mirrors can make solar energy a viable solution for an alternative energy source for farms.
Bambu had an impressive of household items made of bamboo. The company is dedicated to manufacturing products made of sustainable materials. The company also uses third party auditors to ensure that working conditions meet acceptable standards.
Myers Motors is committed to developing an all-electric vehicle for short trips around and about town.
Oliso was showing off the Frisper Freshkeeper System. It lets consumers to store vacuum-sealed foods. What makes Frisper stand out from other vacuum-seal food storage systems is that Frisper can be reused. The bags feature a recloseable top.
These are just some of the new, innovative products that the Cool Products Expo deemed cool enough to be included in the exposition. Many other environmentally friendly, and yes, cool, products were at the expo.
