Introducing... my idol!

There are lots of people I admire for their altruism, and even more whose creativity or talents I could only dream of. But to me an "idol" can only be person who inspires in all aspects of their life.

And for me that would have to be my mom.

But sorry, no pictures. She'd just kill me.

Things I admire about my idol

  1. She's warm, unselfish, and showers her family with love, all the time.
  2. She's incredibly hardworking. My mom grew up on a farm, picking corn, milking cows, and bailing hay. Even as she closes in on 60, she spends her days out chopping wood for my grandparents or wallpapering my nephew's nursery.
  3. She appreciates beautiful and simple things -- in particular flowers and the beach.
  4. Her capacity for empathy is astounding. As such, everyone who meets her immediately loves her. She teaches English to strangers and has spent years volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.
  5. She's just plain thoughtful. Remembers everyone's birthdays, is always ready with a frozen dinner when someone's in the hospital, you get the picture.
  6. She's creative. Landscape design is one of her strengths, but she's no slouch at photography, either.
