The Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that over 840 million people - about one sixth of the population of the world's developing nations - are malnourished. Over 200 million of them are children.
In an emergency such as a flood, earthquake, hurricane, pandemic, or starvation, Save The Children responds to the needs (survival, protection and the well being) of children.
Welcome to The Ladies Of the House Lens. We've entered it into the Squidoo Thanksgiving Cook-Off (for charity). If we are selected, Save The Children receives $1000. We hope you enjoy, and if you do, don't be shy; spread the word.

This lens was created to raise awareness and funds for Save The Children.Children all over the world go to bed with empty tummies. The holidays bring this home like no other time on the calendar. We stuff ourselves like a holiday turkey while children are malnourished.
Malnutrition, and in extreme cases, stunting, is evidence of the permanent physical harm done to children and their future potential to live healthy and productive lives. The basic needs of children must be met, adequate food supplies, shelter, clean water and medication. Things we take for granted.
When you pull the wishbone this year think of the children. Make a small sacrifice for them. Skip a latte or brown-bag it to work or school and donate those few dollars. They could make a world of change in the life of a hungry child.
To paraphrase Horton the Elephant: A donation is a donation no matter how small.
