Save the F-22 Raptor
The F-22 Raptor is an amazing aircraft. With its stealth, speed, agility, and advanced technology, it's difficult for enemies to challenge this fighter in the air.
Unfortunately, the F-22 faces its most dangerous opposition at home.
The Air Force believes it needs 381 of these machines to get the job done, providing for America's defense for many years to come.
But Congress and the Pentagon have only approved funding for 183 Raptors. The Air Force is currently buying planes slowly, trying to keep the assembly line open longer in hopes that funding for additional fighters may be approved.
America needs enough F-22 fighters to get the job done and ensure the country's defense--your defense.

Our whimpy congressmen and worthless president want to stop the production of the Raptor. What are they expecting - that all of our enemies will say how nice, we don't need to see the US as a threat anymore. If this nitwit finishes his term, we will be a second rate military power subservient to the likes of China, Russia and perhaps even those fun loving North Koreans and Iranians. Obama already got his comeuppance at the G20. He better take home that lesson and realize that his pat on the back diplomacy isn't going to make it. If the US is to succeed, Obama and his democratic cronies Pelosi and Reid had better realize that they are playing in the real world. We need a president with guts, e.g., shooting down the DRPK missile, and letting the world know that we are back and are not going to take any crap from third rate dictatorships. Some actions like these and countries will be cowering at our feet. This is the USA not the United Socialist States of America. GET IT OBAMA!

I completely agree. The F-18 and F-16 airframes were designed back in the 1970's. How much longer can we expect 30 year old designs to effectively defend our nations people from the rapidly developing available technologies? I know there are newer versions like the "Super Hornet" and the "Block 60" but there is only so much you can upgrade before the airframe architecture become unable to compete with newer designs. The United States, as a world leader, needs to maintain the F-22 program in order to secure its position in our volatile world.

As U.S. military leaders tend to say, "You can't predict your next fight". Sure, we're fighting insurgents right now, but what happens when China gets the two carriers that Japanese papers are alleging right now? How about a resurgent, nationalist Russia that decides Europe looks juicy again? On top of that, F-22s have had the most accurate delivery of JDAMs at supersonic speeds ever recorded.
People, we're on the verge of a geriatric air force, here. We're looking at a systemic structural problem with the F-15, an F-16 that is all-too-common outside of the United States, and Russia feeling the need to buzz our coastal air defense zone. We *need* a next-generation air superiority fighter, and we need a bunch of them.
