How Can I Save A Failing Relationship? - The Top 5 Mistakes People Make
Are You Making These Relationship Mistakes?
Here are the top 5 mistakes people make when they try to save a failing relationship.
1. Ultimatums. This is never a good idea. Trying to push someone into a corner and force them to make a quick decision without having enough time to reflect will only cause anger and resentment in the long run. If you're trying to save a failing relationship, bitter resentment isn't going to help.
2. Begging. Never ever, under any circumstances, should you beg the other person to continue the relationship. This makes you appear needy, clingy and pathetic. What you want is your' partner's love and respect, not their pity.
3. Threats. A threat will only make your partner angry. If you want to win back love and trust with your partner, threatening to see other people, empty the bank account, or max the credit cards you share isn't going to make you look like an attractive person they want to share their life with long term. A threat is like pouring gas on a campfire. Try this and your relationship will blow up in your face.
4. Blaming your partner. Back to the fact that everyone makes mistakes. You both had a share in the problems that caused your current situation. It's possible and likely that one person is more to blame than the other, but rubbing your partner's face in their shortcomings isn't going to win you any brownie points or get you back into your partner's good graces. You can't play the blame game and hope to save your failing relationship, so don't go there.
5. Illness or pregnancy - An illness or pregnancy, real or fake, should NEVER be used to lure someone back into a relationship. While it may work for a short while, hiding behind an illness or pregnancy does nothing to solve the problems that caused the original break. If you aren't trying to permanently heal the damage, you will break up again.

- CC,
Knowing when it's just too late is absolutely the toughest call of all to make. No one but you knows when you've reached your breaking point and it's time to move on.
That said, here are my own personal few red flags that I use to determine the end of a relationship. Any one or a combination of the following signals to me that it's time to move on and find someone more appropriate.
1. Physical abuse - Do not tolerate this in any form.
2. Verbal abuse - This is as hurtful as being hit. If a person continues this behavior after being asked to stop, it's time to move on.
3. Excessive Drinking or Drugs - Again, completely unacceptable behavior.
4. Habitual lying - This destroys the foundation of trust. If you can't trust your partner, you have nothing.
5. Cheating with another - Also destroys trust. Some people can forgive this, others cannot. I personally find it disgusting and unacceptable.
