Saving Energy for Kids.....

Your responsibility as a parent, shouldn't just be on saving energy and money. In fact your kids should also learn how to contribute in keeping the electricity bill down. That way you don't feel like your efforts are wasted and your kids will learn good and true values as they grow up.

How Can Kids Save on Energy?

Teaching your kids to be energy efficient requires some effort, here are easy to follow suggestions you can do....

Educating Your Kids

Teaching the importance of saving energy for kids should be your primary goal. Making your kids understand the value of being energy efficient is much more effective than just saying the words. Show them how conserving energy can help save the environment. Read or tell them stories about the importance of energy.

Lead By Example

We all know that kids mimic what adults do. So practice what you preach. You may demonstrate to your kids all the things they should do to conserve energy, but if you don't follow them yourself, you can't expect your kids to follow them too. Don't just tell them to turn the lights off before leaving a room; show them by turning the lights off every time you leave a room in your house. Education and leading by example is the key if you want to make good habits stick.

Fun Facts About Saving Energy

Every time you open the refrigerator door, up to 30 percent of the cold air can escape.

Teach Your Kids According To Their Age

Kids of different ages have different attitude on things around them. If your 5-year son doesn't know how to turn off the lights before leaving the room, all you need to do is to talk to him well about its importance and showing him that you practice what you teach.

Your 10-year old daughter may need a different approach like showing her your electric bill and explaining to her that it will greatly help if she will change her habits. You are teaching your 5-year old good habits while you are teaching and emphasizing your 10-year old good habits and responsibility.

Same thing applies to kids of different ages. The point is, make sure that you teach your kids proper ways to conserve energy using an approach thats suited to their ages.
