Savvy Senior's Bucket List
This lens is my personal bucket list of what I would like to see and do before I die.
I would like it to be yours also. Feel free to write down your list in the comment section and I will add them to this lens.
People seem to accomplish more when they write down their desires. Here is your opportunity to write down your bucket list and see how much you accomplish in the days and weeks ahead.
#1 Take a Train Ride
Ride, Sally, Ride
I would leave Michigan, go through Chicago, St. Louis, San Antonio, then take a bus to Corpus Christi. The whole trip would take three days.
I have flown to CC before, but this trip would satisfy a long standing desire. I could also ride the train down there and fly back.
Or, ideally, ship my possessions down there, take the train one way, and spend the rest of my life on the beach.
Whatever I decide, another item crossed off the list.
Great Travel Options to Santa Fe!
Take a look at what Santa Fe has to offer. Why wait, plan your trip now!
#2 Live on a Mountain
Switzerland was my first choice.
As an avid Heidi fan, I read all of the books at least a dozen times, I always longed to visit the Swiss Alps. My second choice was to live on any mountain side, near a small village, in a quaint cottage.I came close to living on a mountain when I lived in Tucson, AZ for a year. My apartment was about a mile from the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Driving up to Mount Lemmon was one of the best experiences of my life.
#3 Write a Novel
Watch what you ask for...
In reality what I wanted was to be a published author. Still have the opportunity, but need to settle in for a long editing and query process. At this point in my life, does that item stay on the list or was my wish accomplished by writing down the stories that were in my heart?
My Bucket "to-do" List
Continue Bucket List - so many great things to do and places to go.
#4 Live on an Island
Mustang Island, here I come
Living on an island is a dream I have had for many years. It almost came true in 2005, but I veered off to Tucson - the desert. Go figure! I truly believe this desire will come true - someday. This picture is my daughter and my grandson fishing off the pier on Mustang Island where they live. Life can't get a whole lot better than that!
What is Number One on Your Bucket List?
#5 Travel Throughout the Southwest - Again
Arizona, here I come!
While living in Tucson for over a year, before coming back to Michigan for caregiver duties, I was able to travel around quite a bit. Having been away from Arizona, I realize I miss the area much more than I realized I would. In fact, I am homesick!
Arizona has a lot to offer in history, things to experience, unique places to visit. I love to drive and I will never forget my travels or the sights I saw.
I really hope, before I die, I have a chance to visit once again!
I love road trips - and stops along the way!
#6 Become a Vegetarian
Someday I will succeed at this goal.
I have tried for years to give up meat and dairy. But, unfortunately, I was raised on a farm with meat and dairy a large part of our daily sustenance. So were fruit and vegetables, but for some reason I really struggle giving up meat.
I know for health reasons, this is what I should do - therefore, I'm going to give it another shot and hopefully, this time I will succeed.

- Anytime we publish something whether it's a blog post, a Squidoo lens, a HubPage (can I mention that here), or whatever it might be, we are a published writer or author, IMHO.
I know so many lensmasters who spend a considerable amount of time building their lens. We may not have our own book to hold in our hands, although some do, we can certainly build a number of "books" through our Squidoo activities.
Thanks for stopping by and for the SquidAngel blessings!

- Very inspirational lens... One of the best things I ever did was give up meat more than 20 years ago. I was raised in a semi-rural town and we bought our meat from local ranchers. You couldn't pay me to eat the hormonally charged stuff that's on the market today. I hope you achieve your goals. Squid Angel Blessings on your lens.

- I went through the same thing when I became vegetarian. Try to give up meat first and then dairy, it seems easier that way. Don't go cold turkey, try giving up one thing at a time and don't give up more things until you no longer think so much about the foods you miss. Start with the easiest (for example for me it was seafood-I didn't really eat much of it). After a while you may like it. Try doing it with a friend. Its harder to be vegetarian if everyone else is not. Just a few suggestions . . .

- Good luck becoming a vegetarian! I've been a vegetarian for four years and I'm never going back. It gets easier and easier until you won't miss it at all! Sausage used to be my favourite, now it grosses me out. You can do it :)
