I am a Writer - What is Your Story?

Ranked #9,400 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #330,474 overall

How Do You Become a Writer?

The best way to become a writer is to write! Write as much as possible about anything that interests you. You can always take classes to learn the finer points, and there are any number of colleges and universities where you can attend classes. Also, there are a large number of websites that have courses. Many are free and there you can easily learn to hone your skills. Check out those sites who also offer critiques. Although they can be painful, you will learn a lot!

Bloggers and article writers often fill their days with reading, writing, researching, and sharing the knowledge they accumulate.

If you don't want to do all the writing yourself, one of the best ways to choose a writer, whether a ghostwriter or guest blogger, connect with someone who you enjoy reading. If you enjoy their posts, so will your readers.

Writing Sites

Because I combine a love of writing with an inborn curiosity and desire to try new things, this list will probably continue to grow over time. A couple of the sites have not received a recent update because I have become involved in creating niche blogs. I love the ability to create blogs and Squidoo lenses - my new hobbies and I can earn money, too.

There are a number of other sites that I have written a couple of articles such as Gather and Constant Content, but those listed below are the main sites for right now.
Amazon Reviewer
I love writing reviews for Amazon and just recently I was invited to be a Vine Reviewer. Amazon gives me the opportunity to write reviews on anything, not just mystery books. It's free and easy - all you have to do is sign-up and start writing! Feel free to check it out!!!
Associated Content
For several years I wrote articles on various topics published on Associated Content. I'm planning on adding more articles as I think this is a great writing site. And, I've been earning money every month almost since I started.
BellaOnline Mystery Books Editor
As mystery books editor, I have the opportunity to review mysteries written by some of the best authors in the genre. As moderator of the Mystery Books forum, I get to chat with other mystery lovers. Life can't get much better than that. Check out our reviews as we add articles on a weekly basis. This is my favorite site as a writer. I hope you enjoy the reviews. We also have a BellaOnline Mystery Books fanpage on Facebook!
Elder Care Cafe
My first and main website. We are providing information and encouragement to the elderly and support to their caregivers. This stand-alone website is filled with info for anyone who is concerned about elder care. At this time, there are well over 500 blog posts and articles.
Ezine Articles
Although I have several articles on Ezine, I never could get into writing for that site. Probably would help draw traffic to my blogs, but for some reason it never felt like a place I wanted to go.
Squidoo
This link is to Savvy Senior's Bucket List, but I have a number of other lenses and a great desire to build more. Check out any of my Squidoo lenses and leave a comment letting me know you stopped by. I love hearing from people!

Journals to Write In - A Precious Gift

journalDuring twenty-five years in the health care field, I began keeping a journal to wind down at the end of the day. After ten years of journaling and filling many a notebook, I started keeping an online diary at My Dear Diary. The diary gave me a taste for writing on the web.

During the early 2000's, I began writing essays, continued journaling, and soon started writing short stories. I moved on to novels, and have completed three inspirational romance novels. Whether ghostwriting, crafting articles, blogging, or web content writing - I am all for it.

As a caregiver to my elderly father - now 88-years-old - journals have helped me through difficult emotional times. Although I prefer writing first thing in the morning, I occasionally feel the need to sit down at night and let the words flow! Really cleanses the soul.

I am both, I love reading and whenever I finish a book I am inspired to write. I am particularly drawn to fantasy, I love escaping to worlds that are just a little bit different to ours and dealing with dragons than bills. :) I do love writing on Squidoo now, though I am still learning about journalling and writing articles.

I started an artist's journal a few years ago but sadly it's sitting without new entries lately. I find I do all my journaling and artwork on the computer these days. Welcome to Senior Geek Squids group!

Welcome Julie and Lizzy, glad you stopped by. For me, journalling has been a life saver over the years. A place to let everything go. Even if you are no long journalling, it is a place that will always welcome you back when you need to unload.

Ah, I too had a daily diary / journal, but gave that up several years ago. I really think it is a wonderful idea and something I need to do again.

I still need to work on that one.
