Great Beaches
Great Family Vacation

Moonta Bay, only a four hour, scenic drive from Adelaide (the capital city of South Australia), is a quick weekend get away for the romantics at heart or a fun filled Family holiday. The place for me represents a well deserved relaxing get away.
Each year my family and I go to Moonta Bay for a holiday in the sun, usually in January. We have a great time staying in a self contained apartment right on the beach. I cherish these holidays the pace is slower, and there is lots to do both in Moonta and the surrounding areas.
Accommodation
Cheap but Comfortable accomodation
The accommodation in Moonta is varied from luxury apartments on the beach to an affordable caravan park situated right on the beach near the jetty. To see their website go to http://moontabaycp.rvpoint.com.au
Sea Star Apartments
We always stay at the sea star apartments. Prices vary depending on the season but it was about $220 a night (Australian). This price appears to be typical for beachfront property but cheaper accommodations are available the further away from the beach you get.

Things to do and see in Moonta Bay

Clearly the beach is a big attraction with long sandy beaches you can build sandcastles, fly kites, go for long walks, have fun swimming, kayaking, boogie boarding the list is endless. The water is great for children. There are rocky reefs that are exposed at certain times in the tides they are great for discovering the wildlife, we love looking for crabs.
If you like fishing, you can catch garfish, snapper, crab and squid off the Jetty in Moonta. With Port Hughes also not that far away there is plenty of fishing areas to choose from.
Moonta town itself is very quaint with antique shops, second hand stores and bookstores they are great to casually browse through. Kadina and Wallaroo are also close by for shopping and exploring. These can be great days out.
