Review of Gone with the Wind
Gone with the wind is about a fiery woman named Scarlet O' Hara. Scarlet is a ruthless strong willed woman. I have seen the movie but never read the book.
I personally feel that the movie is wonderful. Scarlet is the type of woman I would like to be. She starts out her life from her family plantation, Tara, during the civil war. The man who she is in love with Ashley Wilkes goes to fight for the confederates while she agonizes over the fact that he has decided to marry his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. Attempting to try to make Ashley jealous, Scarlet marries Melanie's brother, Charles..
Scarlet's husband dies in the war so she moves in with Melanie while Ashley is away. She leads a very interesting life as she goes through marriages while trying to find happiness and keep her family secure.
She eventually meets Rhett Butler who is her equal in almost every way. He is cunning and strong willed just like her so she marries him after months of him chasing after her. Together they are a very strong couple but Rhett is convinced Scarlet has feelings for Ashley; which she still does.
Eventually, Melanie dies from complications of pregnancy and Rhett leaves Scarlet. Although Scarlet thought she wanted Ashley when Rhett leaves her she realizes he is all she wants. I would love to have some memorabilia from this movie and would defiantly jump on the chance to have some of it. Gone with the Wind offers a lot of great memorabilia and some great stories. ... Gone with the Wind - An Amazing Film!
"Gone with the Wind" was an amazing film when it was first released in the 1930s because it was a sweeping epic that covered the whole span of the civil war, with pre and post war storylines as well. The magnitude of the picture included the burning of Atlanta, graphic battle scenes, and landscapes of luxurious plantations like Tara where Scarlett O'Hara lived and longed to return.
Part of what makes the movie so special is the actors that played the significant roles like Vivian Leigh, Clark Gable, Olivia de Havilland, and Leslie Howard who were beautiful and handsome, charismatic, and talented professionals. The period clothing was extraordinary from the balls to the battlefield, including the famous scene where Scarlett O'Hara makes a gown from curtains in order to visit Rhett Butler in jail. Few movies have the ability to evoke so many emotions as this epic tale of love, lust, war, and passion.
Many great lines have come from this movie as well, such as "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again", or "Frankly, my darling, I don't give a damn.
