The spookiest night of the year calls for some seriously scary face painting designs! In Face Painting for Halloween I shared some simple face painting designs for kids of all ages. What we've got here is scary Halloween face painting designs for older kids and for adults. You'll find Zombie face painting for guys and a really cute dead Zombie girl too -- ideal for a zombie prom too! There are a LOT of scary face painting video tutorials online. The problem is, there are a lot of BAD face painting video tutorials. Believe me, I watched enough of them!
Some face painting videos show scary designs that look amazing but you would need to be a pro airbrush artist to copy them at home. Others have no instructions. Some are poor quality or spend 4 minutes trying to sell you products before they even let you see the face painting techniques.
The face painting videos here are those that will actually help you to recreate a scary face painting design that is both achievable at home and looks great.
Corpse Bride

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Make Up
Although you can't see the finished Corpse Bride make up from the static video preview, you will see it right at the beginning of the video when you click play.
This scary corpse bride has a doll-faced look with pale face and pouting red lips, but with the addition of a stitched and bleeding extended mouth line (you can also create it without the blood). It's a really clever Halloween look but might scare little ones.
By the way, she is not sucking her cheeks in, that pouty look really is all in the face paint effect!
This tutorial is clearly narrated and is one of the best scary face painting tutorials I have found.

In just over 7 minutes, Mike will talk you through the creation of a scary Zombie face painting in real time (no speeded up work here). Unlike many scary Halloween make up videos for guys, there is no heavy metal music so you can hear what he is doing as well as watch him create his zombie look.
He uses black and white face paints for a living-dead effect, much like a skeleton face painting, and a touch of blue for veins. He also adds some fake skin which is useful for creating a scar. He has fake blood for the finishing touch to his zombie face painting but gives you a helpful tip for making your own fake blood at home.

- Wow, these are really awesome! That Corpse Bride makeup is fantastic. We love the Tim Burton movies and even though I was quite sad for the Corpse Bride, she does make a fabulous Halloween costume. That Skull face is pretty awesome too!

- Last year I made my daughter's costume as Medusa, complete with a head-dress of snakes, for a costume party at her work. At the last minute, she asked me to help her friend with a costume, and I made her up as a zombie. The Zombie outfit won the contest at their job. My daughter was proud and frustrated at the same time, because we felt certain Medusa would trump a Zombie any day of the week. I guess we were wrong.
I loved this lens - I have adored stage makeup and costuming for as long as I can remember, and this is an exceptionally well thought out and presented lens. This is an excellent example to learn from. Thumbs Up & a Favorite!

- A Medusa does sound like it would be an impressive costume, and more difficult than a zombie. But you must have done great work with the zombie!

- Wow, it has been a long time. Would have to be my daughters vampire outfit in grade school, so sort of tame by these standards. Fav, featured and lensrolled back to to my Halloween Makeup for Bald and Shaved... etc. lens. :D
