I went to Fontana in 2006 at the time Schneider was under a court order NOT to charge for the 2 week school so I went for free. The school wasnt bad but I wouldnt pay for it or any other trucking school, they are usually 2 weeks long to learn everything. Then we were supposed to go on the road with an anal retentive trainer for 6 weeks but everyone was coming back in 5-7 days , I was with a trainer for 3 days and he had a local route in a 23 footer lol. But I passed the CDL anyway. Schneider is the best company for a new driver to start with because they have road managers that are trained to help new driver and their terminals are the best. BUT trucking companies have a lonnngggg way to go before they get it right for drivers. They have an incredible turn over. Ive seen people quit in the first week on the road,it happens quit a bit. It is a lonely miserable job and they money is NEVER there like they say, dont listen to these other drivers that say they are making a fortune out there

I went to Gb in 2001 looking for a career and snc gave me one. i spent 6 yrs with them before getting sold to Maverick {they sucked} and now I am driving for a former ssc competitor but i would still be hauling glass for snc if I could I learned alot from the sta and it helped me when I became a TE I have trained drivers that came out of other schools and it was horrible snc stays consistant in their training from beginning to the end not like other schools. Good luck to all who try it is a hard life at any company I have now at my 4th job since snc and I have thought about going back. learn to play the game and you will survive don't and you will fail. my prayers for all who are out there with me everyday.

I thought the school was ok but after you get on the road they gave me the shaft every week had me sitting 3 to 5 days waiting on loads. You used to see there trucks every where but now you don't see them maybe they went broke I hope so all they wanted was you to go through the school they didn't care if you worked for them or not they get the money you pay for school no matter what

I went through the training in 2008 and the people that seemed to be getting kicked out were the ones I wouldn't want on the road with anyone due to lack of common sense. I went through the school in Charlotte, NC the instructors were really good and helped you out any way they could. Some even told you if you ever needed help after training to let them know and they would help any way possible.

I feel exactly like you do. The training was great (dont have skid pad now they use simulators). I drove there walmart account in Washington Court House, Ohio. The dispatch and local staff at walmart DC was terrible. They never did anything wrong and blamed green bay. When you asked a question they would dodge it. This will be my second job hunt with six months experience. I hope I find a trucking company that values what the drivers do for them. I can handle the rest of it.

I found the school not bad. Very thorough. Skid pad training literally saved my life more than once but my team leader was a real pain and knew very little about trucking or the logistics. I went through in the mid nineties. Know this their repair work was very poor and not uncommont to have repairs repaired. However, maybe that has changed. They run recaps on evrything but the steers and insist in the driver returning the recap remains or carcass(usually nothing left). I am with another trucking company and can't seem to shag that truck drivers don't know anything and are beneath everyone in dispatch or office. When will these people realize if it weren't for the drivers they would not have a job. Why don't they try working together?
