Schwinn

Story of Schwinn began over a hundred years ago in Chicago by Ignaz Schwinn and partner Adolph Arnold.

In 1896 Schwinn starts its bicycle racing program and its bikes enter the winner circles more than any other bike company.

1909 is the year that Schwinn bikes enter the market for children's bicycles and in 1933 they introduce the bicycle balloon tire. Cyclelock® to deal with bicycle theft problem, "Fore-wheel" brake, "Cantilever Frame" and the "Spring Fork" gets the off-road bicycles their start.

With Schwinn Black Phantom® introduction in 1949 and Sting-Ray® in 1963 Schwinn contributes high-rise handlebars and stick shift to the world of bicycles.
But the show must go on and Schwinn determined to bring the fitness into homes by introducing the first in-home exercise bikes in 1965.

In 2001 and 2002 Pacific Cycle, Inc buys Schwinn and Direct Focus, Inc that later changes its name to The Nautilus Group, Inc. acquire the assets of Schwinn.
Today, in 2008, Schwinn Fitness provides a wide selection of Indoor and outdoor bicycles, scooters, recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, three wheel bikes and jogging strollers among other exercise equipments.

I sometimes wonder, what would the world, and I do not mean just the fitness world, be like if Schwinn's innovations never came to exist.
