Schwinn Elliptical
Schwinn offers four models ranging from $600 - $900. What has driven sales was a Best Buy rating from Consumer Reports for the Schwinn 418. A positive review from CR is powerful. In general, I feel the Schwinn ellipticals offer some of the best value in their price range. In particular, I find the Schwinn 430 elliptical to be an excellent buy.

Schwinn 430 Review
The Schwinn 430 elliptical offers 16 levels of resistance with an Eddy Current drive system. This elliptical machine was designed to be compact but the feel has been compromised a bit. The LCD display is not backlit and therefore is awkward to read. Pivoting foot pedals support the foot and ankle's natural movement through the entire elliptical stride. Schwinn 438 Elliptical Trainer
The Schwinn 438 elliptical trainer is the upgrade to the popular 418. The Schwinn 418 received a "Best Buy" rating from Consumer Reports, where they mention it was better quality than comparably priced models. The 438 is a good value when selling at around $1,000 price range. This is one of the smoother elliptical strides for a moderately priced elliptical. The 18" stride had a nice elliptical motion, in comparison to other budget models, which tend to be more circular and bouncy. The articulating foot pedals helped to keep my feet aligned with the motion. Overall, the Schwinn 438 felt stable, weighing in at 172 lbs.
Schwinn 418 Elliptical Trainer
Schwinn 418 Elliptical Trainer reviews are somewhat disappointing when it comes to this exercise machine. Compared to their bikes, this trainer just doesn't do the brand justice. Even Treadmill Doctor sports a frown when looking at this model. According to 418 Elliptical Schwinn Trainer Reviews, there will be a market for this machine due to the recognizable brand, but other similar exercise options may offer better reliability.
