Sciatic Nerve Therapy

Sciatic nerve therapy can help reduce or eliminate the pain associated with sciatica, the condition whereby the sciatic nerve that runs from your lower spine down to your legs, is irritated or inflamed, causing sensations of tingling, cramping, stinging or shooting pain in the buttocks and legs.

Examples of Sciatica Nerve Therapy

The most common forms of sciatic nerve therapy include:

  • Massage - Trigger point massaging, when performed with the proper technique, can relieve tension in the muscles surrounding the sciatic nerve. (Remember that sciatica is a condition that effects the nerve. It is not a muscle, joint, or bone problem.) By relaxing these muscles, you can oftentimes feel immediate relief. In many cases, it is possible for you to perform trigger point massage on yourself using your own hands, if a partner is not available. Or you can use a machine such as a massage chair or a hand-held massage.

  • Acupressure - Similar to trigger point massaging, acupressure identifies key points along your spine to apply pressure. The difference between trigger point massage and acupressure is that with the latter, you are applying point-pressure spot-on, whereas massage involves continuous motion of the fingers or hands along a defined area.

  • Low-impact aerobic exercise - such as walking or swimming. Aerobic activity is conducive to the transmission of fluids and nutrients in your body to help accelerate the healing process. Aerobic conditioning also releases the body's natural pain killers, known as endorphins, to facilitate alleviating sciatic pain.

  • Stretching - Stretching, like massage, releases tension in the muscles, causing them to loosen up. When done properly and regularly, you can alleviate sciatic pain.

Solutions For Sciatica Nerve Therapy

Any one of these forms of sciatic nerve therapy can be practiced at home either by yourself or with the help of a partner, thus saving yourself from the unnecessary costs associated with visiting a doctor, chiropractor or massage therapist.

I once suffered with a bout of sciatica and was able to cure it naturally within 24 hours, without spending a single dime on a doctor, chiropractor, or massage therapist, using the simple and easy-to-follow techniques of sciatic nerve therapy.
