Science Fair Project Ideas

The possibilities for great science fair project ideas are endless. The hardest part of the science project is usually coming up with the right topic. There are several things you should consider before choosing your science fair project idea.

The most important aspect of choosing an experiment is to choose something that is of interest to the student. It will be a difficult task to complete all the steps necessary to get a project completed if the student is not interested and curious about experimenting and learning about the topic.

Another important consideration is the difficulty of the project. Be sure the difficulty level of the project fits the student's abilities. This will quickly be evident to the judges when the discuss the research and experimentation process with the student during judging.

It is best to first come up with 4-5 science fair project ideas, and then narrow them down to 1 or 2. Choose a project that can successfully be completed in the time you have to put into it. Be organized, and have fun.

Science Fair Project Ideas - Simple And Fun

Choose something that will interest your child and be on a do-able level for their abilities. There is nothing wrong with keeping it simple and fun.

One simple science fair project idea is to work with gravity. Everything has weight because of gravity. Even things with different weights are affected by gravity. What you may not know is that even thought two items have different weights, they both fall through the air at different speeds. For example, if a basketball and a marble are both dropped from the same height at the same time, they hit the ground at the same time. This could easily be turned into a simple science fair experiment.

Humidity is another concept that can easily be used for a simple science fair project idea. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. How much moisture that can be held in the air is dependent on temperature. The higher the temperature, the more moisture that the air can hold. By taking a glass of water that has been chilled in the refrigerator, and setting it out in a warm room you will see water collecting on the outside of the glass. This is humidity in action and can be turned into another simple science fair project idea.
