Nearly 50 Free Science Resources for Homeschoolers or Anyone With Children
I think our favorite unit of study is science. But when dad's a rocket scientist and mom's a rocket mom, what do you expect. (Yes the "Rocket mom" comment was a play on words, but dad really is a rocket scientist!). We do remind ourselves that science is more than space.
Here you will find nearly 50 free science resources sorted into four main areas: Planet Earth and Beyond; Living World; Material World; and Physical World. I have been collecting these sites for almost 10 year. This page is interactive, so if you have a favorite that's not here, please add it.
I hope you find something useful here. It is part of a series on homeschool resources. If you are looking for resources in other areas check out Free Homeschool Resources - Fun and Educational!

3-D Solar System
We forgot to take this when we shifted house and had to buy a new one. The kids loved the glow in the dark solar system. It also includes glow in the dark sticker stars. These have been up on our current ceiling for 6 years and they still glow the same as when we purchased them. Makes for a fun night at home.
Moon In My Room
This is so cool. It has a built-in light sensor illuminates moon when room gets dark. Also operates via remote control for the automatic or manual function of the 12 phases of the moon. Also comes with a 15 minute audio CD provides a guided tour to the moon. Too bad this wasn't around when my kids were little. It has great reviews on Amazon.
Star Explosion Glow In The Dark
Over 700 stars and shapes. These are so fun. We put up my daughter's zodaic constellation as well as the southern cross, and lots of random stars. It helped get over being scared of the dark.

- We probably enjoy science and nature the most of all the things we do as a homeschool family. We know quite a lot of these resources already - I've had the coke from the Mentos rocket experiment all over me (much to the children's enjoyment) but I'll bring us back here when we've finished our latest Dinosaur Discovery project. Thanks for a great resource.
