Nearly 50 Free Science Resources for Homeschoolers or Anyone With Children

I think our favorite unit of study is science. But when dad's a rocket scientist and mom's a rocket mom, what do you expect. (Yes the "Rocket mom" comment was a play on words, but dad really is a rocket scientist!). We do remind ourselves that science is more than space.

Here you will find nearly 50 free science resources sorted into four main areas: Planet Earth and Beyond; Living World; Material World; and Physical World. I have been collecting these sites for almost 10 year. This page is interactive, so if you have a favorite that's not here, please add it.

I hope you find something useful here. It is part of a series on homeschool resources. If you are looking for resources in other areas check out Free Homeschool Resources - Fun and Educational!

Decorate Your Child's Room With the Solar System

Here are a few of our favorite Items

3-D Solar System

We forgot to take this when we shifted house and had to buy a new one. The kids loved the glow in the dark solar system. It also includes glow in the dark sticker stars. These have been up on our current ceiling for 6 years and they still glow the same as when we purchased them. Makes for a fun night at home.

Do Try This At Home

Have you ever seen what happens when you add a roll of Mentos Candy to a bottle of Diet Coke? If you haven't seen it before, it is quite surprising. If you are going to give it a try, I would recommend doing it outside. Here is our trial from May 2008.
