Speculative Fiction AKA Science Fiction As Doorway into the World of Tomorrow
Sometimes called science fiction or fantasy, specualtive fiction provides a doorway into the world of tomorrow. It was a doorway I first walked through when I was six years old.
The first book I ever read was the Spaceship Under the Apple Tree by Louis Slobodkin. The book triggered my youthful imagination and I become something of a imaginative book addict. Unlike most additions, it proved non-toxic to my mental development and even provided stimulus for my interests in science and other subjects..
I am now 61 and imaginative fiction has proven the only way to keep up with my radically changing realities as I move through life. In this lens, I share some of my favorite reads with you and hopefully for some, this may open up a new door to your future life.

Science fiction is a genre of fiction. It differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation). Exploring the consequences of such differences is the traditional purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas". Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possibilities. The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality.
These may include:
*A setting in the future, in alternative timelines, or in a historical past that contradicts known facts of history or the archaeological record
*A setting in outer space, on other worlds,...
