Scientific Benefits of Meditation

What neuroscience found about meditation and meditators

It is quite interesting that neuroscience found that people who meditate shift their brain activity to different areas of brain. The right frontal cortex is the part of the brain which is prone to stress. The activity of left one makes a person calmer and happier. So people who meditate move their activity to the left cortex by their will.

They have done an experiment. One group of people was advised to learn to meditate every day. Another control group left alone without meditation instructions. After eight weeks their brainwaves were measured and compared.

The first group of people showed the brainwaves of calmer and happier people that those who did not meditate.
