The Mystery Inc. team consists of the five characters above: Fred "Freddie" Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers as well as Scooby-Doo their dog.
They then travel around the world in a van called the "Mystery Machine" and solve mysteries that usually involve ghosts and monsters.
All the Scooby characters make excellent fancy dress outfits, and I think it makes for an excellent fancy dress theme.

Ok, I know, Scooby-Doo is a cartoon that is meant for kids, but I think that the fact that we all grew up watching it makes it an excellent costume for adults as well.There are plenty of Scooby costumes available on the web.
The Character of Scooby-Doo is a very cowardly dog with a shall we say very healthy appetite! To get around his cowardly ways, he is often bribed with Scooby snacks into chasing the, what are believed to be supernatural forces.
Because Scooby-doo is a dog he often has trouble pronouncing certain words, for example "uh-oh, Shaggy!" is normally said with an "R" sound and comes out like "ruh-roh, Raggy!".
Scooby's fur is brown with big black dots on the top of his coat. He wears a blue collar with a diamond shaped gold tag which has the letters "SD" engraved into it. Scooby has a black nose and his ears often point up into the air.
Most good Scooby-Doo costumes will come with the "SD" engraved Dog tag.

The Norville "Shaggy" Rogers Fancy Dress Costume
Of all the Scooby-Soo gang, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers is the biggest trouble maker and he is always getting them into trouble.shaggy, like Scooby has loves his food and is always hungry. Again, similar to Scooby he is also cowardly and is also often bribed with Scooby snacks to continue with what ever scary investigation they are doing. And even though he is usually scared, he often comes in handy as a distraction or live bait to try and get what ever ghost or monster to chase him.
Shaggy sees Scooby as a friend more than just a pet dog. When Shaggy is scared or surprised his catchphrase is "Zoinks!" and when he is about to runaway from something he will scream "GAANGWAAY!" so he has a clear path to run into, away from the scary monster.
The Shaggy look and costume has bushy brown hair and a messy goatee like beard on his chin. He wears a baggy green t-shirt and brown flared trousers which hang off his lanky body. Shaggy is kind of hippy by the way he looks, what he wears and by the way he speaks, by using the word "like" a lot during his speech, which could help you get into character if you are wearing the Shaggy costume.

The Daphne Blake Costume
Daphne is probably the third most popular character from the Scooby-Doo series after Shaggy and Scooby himself. Daphne wears a purple dress and boots with a green scarf around her neck and most of the Daphne costumes available keep to this color scheme.In the cartoons, Daphne Blake is often seen as the damsel in distress. She is usually the one who gets kidnapped or left by themselves helpless.
The whole Blake family wealthy and are known for being danger prone and Daphne is no exception. Daphne will sometimes spend more time worrying about her appearance, especially her bright orange hair more than the investigation. And whilst I would not say that she is stupid, she doesn't posses the same intelligence as Velma.
Daphne often finds useful things in her hand bag to help in the current investigation and also a black belt in martial arts!

Velma Dinkley Costume

Velma is well known for her bright orange jumper and socks and bright red skirt and shoes. She has short rounded brown hair and any Velma costume should contain these core elements.Velma Dinkley is basically the brains of the Scooby gang. She is often the person who usually finds the clues the gang need to solve the mystery or crime.
Velma will often use her ability to read Chinese as well as Japanese writing, solve complicated scientific formulas and operate advanced machinery in order to solve the next clue.
Velma is usually the person who tries and usually succeeds in bribing Scooby and Shaggy with Scooby snacks.
Her glasses often fall from her face and one of her catchphrases is to say "My glasses! I can't see without my glasses!", another Velma quote is to say "Jinkies!".

In scooby-Doo, Fred has blonde hair and wears a white top with an orange scarf and blue trousers and so any good Scooby Fred Halloween costume must contain these core elementsFred "Freddie" Jones is known for setting up the traps that the villains fall into or get caught by.
He is a kind and caring character, but one that also has a bossy side to him and is often the person that makes Shaggy and Scooby stay with the rest of the gang until they have finished the investigation.
Along with Velma, Fred is one of the leaders of the Scooby gang.
Fred's catchphrase is "Okay, Gang, Let's split up and search for clues!". Although it is never said in the cartoons or films, Daphne and Fred probably have a crush on each other.
Fred mission seems to be to try and get Scooby and Shaggy to be a lot more courageous than they are.
The Mystery Machine is also Fred's pride and joy and he has made many modifications to it.

Scooby-Doo is a long-running American animated series produced for Saturday morning television in several different versions from 1969 to the present. The original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, was created for Hanna-Barbera Productions by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, CBS executive Fred Silverman, and character designer Iwao Takamoto. Hanna-Barbera produced numerous spin-offs and related works until being absorbed in 2001 into Warner Bros. Animation, which has handled production since then. Although the format of the show and the cast (and ages) of characters have varied significantly over the years, the most familiar versions of the show feature a talking dog named Scooby Doo and four teenagers or young adults: Fred "Freddie" Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers.
These five characters (officially collectively known as "Mystery, Inc.", but never referred to as such in the original series) drive around in the Mystery Machine van,CD liner notes: Saturday Mornings: Cartoons' Greatest Hits, 1995 MCA Records solving mysteries by exposing seemingly otherworldly ghosts and monsters as flesh and blood crooks. Later versions of Scooby-Doo featured different variations on the show's supernatural theme, and include characters such as Scooby's cousin Scooby-Dum and nephew Scrappy-Doo in addition to or instead of some of the original characters.
Scooby-Doo was broadcast on CBS from 1969 to 1976, when it moved to ABC. ABC aired the show until canceling it in 1986, and presented a spin-off, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, from 1988 until 1991, which featured the characters as children. The series was revived for The WB Network's Kids' WB programming block as Whats New, Scooby-Doo?, which ran from 2002 until 2006. The most recent Scooby-Doo series, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, ran from 2006 to 2008 on The CW network; a new series, Scooby-Doo - Mystery, Inc.'', will begin airing on the Cartoon Network in 2009.
