Scottish Ballads

Scottish love songs have their own special charm and they are popular year round. They are especially popular as part of Robbie Burns or Valentine's Day celebrations. Although I'm not from a Scottish family, I grew up listening to both Irish and Scottish music. To this day it is near and dear to my heart as Dad used to love to sing Scottish songs, and with a convincing Scottish accent to boot! He learned these songs from my grandfather, who had learned them, along with how to play golf, from two Scottish businessmen back in the early 1900s.

The Scottish love songs that I've selected to feature are "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose", "Leezie Lindsay", "I Love a Lassie", "The Tiree Love Song", "Annie Laurie", and "Loch Lomond". I've also included resources on Scottish love poems as well as other resources pertaining to Scottish culture.

Happy listening!

Scottish Kilts

Scottish

Kilts are part of traditional Scottish dress and are available in a variety of tartans. The expression "the whole nine yards" originates from the fact that it takes nine yards of material to make a traditional kilt.

Hello Everyone

A Little About Me

Although I'm not from a Scottish family, I grew up listening to a lot of Irish and Scottish music. Scottish music is still a genre that I enjoy and my husband and I usually include several Celtic songs in our repertoire when we entertain in seniors' residences and nursing homes.

I have also created lenses on European travel and geography, travel gifts, spirituality, fashion and decor.
