Words With Friends - Online interactive scrabbling

I discovered Words With Friends -by Zynga- on my iPhone about 18 months ago and I am one addicted girl....
You too can enjoy this fun filled online interactive game of skill by downloading it onto your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or any android smartphone.

It is a FREE download, or you can opt to purchase this application, add free, for a low cost of $3.99, sometimes advertised at a lower price of 99cents.
Personally the adds in the free app are not intrusive or long lasting and do not really bother me.

“Words with Friends boasts 10 million mobile users on iOS devices.”

My highest scoring word

Letter 'j' was on a triple letter and my word ended on a triple word score :)

This video puts a comedic spin on the WWF Game, very true and funny rap...

If you choose to play a Words With Friends Random game, you will be paired up with someone from anywhere around the world.

You can interact via personal chat with the person whom you are playing.

A surprise bingo for me, I never thought this would be an accepted word, but thought I'd give it a try :)

Pross and cons of the app

  • PROS

    1. Notifications can be set on or off to let you know it's your turn.
    2. Words With Friends is a great way to exercise your brain.
    3. You can communicate with others around the world.
    4. You play at your own leisure.
    5. You can connect with your Facebook Friends.
    6. You can search a particular username or select a random game.
    7. You can have 20 games going at a time.
    8. You can play whilst in the bathroom, on a train, cooking dinner, shopping, in a waiting room....

    CONS

    1. There is nothing like playing alongside your friends or family in real life.
    2. Occasionally the game freezes up, but since Zynga has jumped on board it is better.
    3. There is no tally for wins and losses.

Are you a walking Dictionary?

Off the top of your head, do you know the meanings of these words?

These are a few words accepted by the WWF dictionary, with one true meaning for each.
Trial and error played a big part in my discovery of unusual and uncommon words.
Also taking a mental note of others moves helps you to learn new words.

Different types of Dictionaries

* SOWPODS - This word list is used in tournaments in English-speaking countries except USA, Canada, Israel & Thailand.

* TWL - This word list is used in tournaments in USA, Canada, Thailand and Israel. It has fewer words than the SOWPODS dictionary.

Personally I prefer to use the Sowpods Dictionary because of it's large range of words.

I haven't gotten into this game yet. Perhaps if I managed to get online at the same time as a friend it would be more interesting.

highest i've ever been able to get is 69. never been able to play all 7 tiles, much less hit a triple letter AND word score simultaneously. 114 is most impressive.

I love the old fashion scrabble game so I just had to see what all the kids are playing now. Very interesting variation and I'm guessing the points are automatically added. Thanks for the education. Sincerely, Rose
