Scrapbooking Your Kids Birthday Party
Kids look forward to their birthday all year. My little one starts planning her birthday party the day after her last one. We work hard to make the birthday a special event. Scrapbooking helps us preserve the memories.
Birthdays are the perfect milestone events for you to use as a theme to make a scrapbook. By taking photos, and adding bits and pieces of ephemera from the birthday celebration, sticking on some stickers, and maybe stamping or coloring, you can create and tell a story.
These personal story books are fantastic. The kids love having the books devoted to their day. And they really love being involved in the creation of the scrap book.
And it's a fun thing to do...

Why Scrapbook?
Keep Memories Strong
Scrapbooking is basically putting together a fancy photo album that tells a story. Put in photos, invitations, stickers, small (hopefully flat) momentos like menus, deflated balloons, or other bits and pieces that bring up memories of the event. You don't have to be overly artistic to put a scrapbook together. And your child doesn't have to be wild about arts and crafts. The basics will do. Put the photos and the invitation in an album, write under each photo so that years from now you'll remember who the kid with the big ears was.
Scrapbooking Ideas for Birthdays
What Should You Put In the Scrapbook
To make the best possible scrapbook for your birthday child... you may want to include some of the following ideas...Be sure to take a group shot of all of the party guests...
Take individual photos of the party guests...either alone, or with the birthday child
Maybe even create a backdrop to photograph everyone in front of...
for example.. if you are throwing a party with an island theme... take the photo in front of a palm tree, surf board or ocean scene
If the cake is in keeping with the party theme.. photograph it... and don't forget to get a shot of the birthday child blowing out the candles
Find stickers and colored paper in keeping with the party theme
Don't forget to include a copy of the invitation! Especially if you made it yourself
And most important....Label all photos...so you will always remember who was there for your child's special day

Scrapbooking Party
If you and your child are really in to scrapbooking, you may want to consider a Scrapbooking Birthday Party.
There are a few different ways you can do this..
One way is to ask all of the guests to bring photos along that they want to make into a scrapbook page. These should be photos of themselves, maybe at a few different ages, and perhaps some with the birthday child. It would be best if these photos are copies. Assemble all your scrapbooking supplies... and let each guest create a page for the birthday child. Bind them all together into one large book for the birthday child to keep.
Another way is to ask guests to bring their photos, and maybe even some scrapbooking supplies. Everyone works on their own pages, trading stickers, cutters and paper. Each guest takes home their own pages at the end of the party.
