Ideas For Scrapbook Layout Themes

Find Ideas for Themes In The Scrapbook Layout

The styles and themes for any scrapbooking layout are endless. The most basic and probably the most used by beginner scrapbookers is the chronological theme. You have sorted your photos by date and begin scrapbooking every event in the order they happened. Beginners shouldn't limit themselves, however.

The themed album centered on one topic is often a source of inspiration and pride. Scrapbook layout themes can range from the universal wedding album or baby album to the more specific theme dedicated to your grandmother's rose garden or the camping vacation you took with your family.

The theme of your scrapbook can be determined by the photos or the event. Use souvenirs, journaling, paper color and photos to tie your theme together. This lens will be your guide to using themes in all your scrapbooking layouts. Be creative and let the photos and scrapbooking papers inspire you to create one of a kind layout.

General Scrapbooking Layout Themes

The most popular types of scrapbooking themes are the chronological album, the wedding album, the baby album, school days album, holiday album and heritage album.

In the chronological album, each page focuses on photos from specific dates or events and progresses from earliest to latest dates. The wedding album focuses on the wedding and events leading to the wedding, including your personal thoughts and feelings. a baby album can be chronological, starting with pregnancy and birth and progressing from month to month. It can also be set up as baby's firsts: first tooth, first smile, first steps. The heritage album often refers to scrapbooks made with very old photographs.

Now within each of these album themes, each scrapbooking layout page can have a theme as well. For example, in the school days album there can be a page for the first day of school, the first dance or the first friend. There can also be a page for the sports played, the overnighters, or the achievements.

Photos Are A Guide In Creative Scrapbook Layout

There are many ways to create scrapbook layout themes to captivate the look you want to project. With a little imagination, you can create themes from your holidays, vacations, the birth of your child or grandchild, nights out with friends and family, or any other event that your want to preserve.

Begin by gathering the photos you want to use and the order of how you want to display them. Let the event and the photographs work as a guide in choosing the theme. Are the photos of a fishing vacation? Create a scrapbooking layout theme around the one that got away or the monster fish your son caught. Be creative with the cover and title of the scrapbook. Include special memories and souvenirs as well in the layout. Colorful pens add a new dimension to journaling and writing while letters from a friend, a garter from the wedding or baby's footprint add a beautiful touch to the layout. Be creative and have fun.

Theme Dos and Don'ts

-Do coordinate colors, embellishments

-Do use souvenirs from the event

-Do use colored pens, stamps, embossed paper

-Don't use non-archival quality paper, ink

-Don't go overboard

-Don't forget to have fun!

Baby Boy Scrapbooking Layout Theme

It can be difficult for beginners to create the right baby boy scrapbook layout. There are resources available to help you get the hang of a new style. My Scrapbooking Supplies has some great ideas to help you get started creating your baby boy layout.

Begin by browsing the latest scrapbooking magazines and online sites for inspiration. Be creative, don't just clone the ones you see. You can use die cuts for the first few page layouts to help you get started. Die cuts are used for borders, lettering and graphics. Use the central theme of the baby boy scrapbook layout as your starting point that you can carry throughout the entire album. Use papers, embellishments and colors to compliment your theme. For instance, a pale blue and green can be carried out in all the paper, while using a deeper blue ink and printed pages for the background frame.

Be inspired by the resources, but put your own creativity onto your album.

Thanks! This is helpful for me. I don't scrapbook, but I want to do something for my wedding photos and things, and I'm considering doing something for the trips my husband and I go on. I have a hard time filling space in a balanced way and coordinating with a theme.
