Targeted visitors to your blog are hard to come by. Basically you can get readers but most of them will be looky loos they have no intention on buying anything and they just want to read information.

This is why in my previous lens about Scrapbook Marketing Ideas

I tried to emphasize the need to give all your information on the social sites, don't continue to give away free information on your blog because it will not get you any sales.

2. Instruct your visitors on what you want them to do.

Response marketing is a technique used by big brand companies like Starbucks, Walmart and Amazon.

What they do is once the person comes on the page they immediately start selling.Offering hot items at a discount, and leading the visitor to items they think they would most likly like to buy.

They offer a saved search function so in case you forgot what you had recently looked at it is available for you instantly.

As home based business owners our goal is to offer our best products on the homepage and then to request the visitor to take some kind of action.

You can ask for an email address, or you can give away a free report with links to your products embedded in the resource guide or you can ask your readers to share your blog with people they think will be interested in your services.

By doing this you are making it clear that if your visitors want to read more information they can go to your social profile and check it out.

This will help you filter out the looky loos and get you the targeted people you want.

Another top way to get blog traffic is to create some really informative, step by step videos. This is your opportunity to show your viewers how to do something that they want to know about.

Then make sure to add your blog URL to the video or have it included in the exit pages so that people can go to your site. Viral videos are HOT and they get you tons of traffic.

The one thing I like about recording videos for my craft business is that I am able to become an expert in my field, and I always leave out some steps to get the viewers curious.

Many times I will leave a project unfinished so that I can get some feedback, through comments or emails.

Visitors will ask me what the next step is about and then I direct them to my email list to find out more.

Using free technology is effective in branding yourself and getting more visitors to your blog and on your email list. Try it you will be amazed.

The wonderful thing about attraction marketing is that if you do anything online and you speak from the heart, you will automatically draw like-minded individuals directly to you.

The top way to gain traffic to your blog is to build a list of people who are interested in what you have to offer. The great thing about social sites is that it offers you the opportunity to get prospects to sign up for your newsletter.

The key is to provide information in your email messages that are not easily found on the web. Be different and share your tips and knowledge.

Encourage those on your list to share your blog with their network. You will be surprised at how effective this is. If you decide to use Facebook, Twitter or Linkedin make sure you have a way for people to leave their name and email address.

Capture names and emails so that you can build a relationship and continue to communicate with that list over a length of time. I will have to admit I did not embrace this method right away, because I did not think I had enough to say to the people on the list.

Then I ended up on a email list of a blogger who sells painted signs to local businesses and in her emails she would just share with us what her plans were for the week or the types of clients she was working with.

It got me thinking that I do not have to know what to say but just write about something because it will be of interest to most of your subscribers. She made 6 figures a year creating these really beautiful painted signs for local businesses in her area.

Her work was so good and people paid her high prices to have it done for them. There are just people who want something unique and different to make them stand out from their competitors.

The thing I noticed is that she charges top rates for her services and she is really busy, she has a membership newsletter that she puts out each month that goes over business planning tips, marketing, and how to best use our skills for earning income at home.

It has helped my business so much and now I am trying to set-up my own newsletter and do the same. Sometimes it takes great mentors and role models to help us see what is possible.

Article directories are another type of social space that allows you to add some good content for your readers.

The great thing is that these articles can warm up the prospects to want to learn more and then you will have a resource box to add a link to your blog.

I have written plenty of articles and continue to receive traffic from them.

I wanted to include this other method which is really effective and that is guest blogging. What you do is find blogs that are related to your industry or services.

See if they will let you write articles on their blog in exchange for a link back to your site.

They will be happy to have you as a writer because they need quality content for their readers.

Your goal is to get the readers of these high traffic blogs to come and see what you have to offer. It is crucial that the blog be in the same niche as you are in.

This will get you a targeted audience who will get on your email list and eventually buy from you over and over again.

The other thing I like about article directories is that the visitors are really targeted, so they want what I have to offer.

Plan out what you want to write and do it everyday, in order to be effective with this traffic generation strategy you will have to do it consistently and on a regular basis.

If you are able to write an article a day that will be 30 articles in one months time. Imagine how much more traffic that will get you.

If you do it for a whole year that is 360 articles working hard for you driving traffic to your webpages.

To get paid traffic you will need to find companies that will advertise your site for a fee.

Online you can use solo ads, mailing lists or adwords, bid for keywords and pay a certain amount of money per click.

The tricky thing about paid traffic is that you really need to do your homework.

In order to not lose money you will need to know who your audience is and what they want so that you can create a campaign that will appeal to their needs.

You can not afford to get it wrong because it will cause you lots of money.

Paid traffic should be something you try once you are able to earn some cash from free marketing methods.

What you should know about free traffic

To get traffic for free you can: write articles, record videos, join social media sites, create webinars, produce podcasts, be a guest blogger, give away free reports, leave comments on other blogs, free online classifieds, create your own products and recruit affiliates and other things.

This method is only effective if you know how to do keyword research because the traffic is usually not as targeted and can lead to many looky loos instead of buyers.

You will need to pick the right niche and know what words to use to get the organic traffic.
