Scrapbooking Stickers

Using stickers in scrapbooks is a quick and easy way to embellish a page.

Stickers come in many varieties, and the quality just keeps getting better. Once, stickers often looked cheap and tacky in a scrapbook, but stickers made today are more diverse and it's easy to find some to suit your style whether it be elegant, funky or traditional.

Tips On How To Use Stickers In Scrapbooks

Using stickers in scrapbooks can be an art form in itself. Too many can crowd a page, too few can look as if you didn't put any effort into it.

Try grouping small stickers together in odd numbers. Groups of three small stickers close together look better then spreading them around the page.

Bordering a page on one side or on all four sides can make a bold statement.

Use pens to outline stickers or draw a one inch border from the edge of the page and fill the border with a line of stickers.

How To Apply Small Stickers

Tip: When working with very small stickers it can be hard to transfer them from the sticker page to the scrapbooking page. Use a toothpick or small scrapbooking tool to peel off the sticker and then with the sticker stuck to the tip of the toothpick, transfer the sticker to the scrapbooking page.

How To Remove Stickers

Removing stickers is harder the longer they are on the page. If a sticker has been on a page for a long time it may be best to simply paste a photo, piece of paper, or embellish over the sticker. Removing it can remove part of the page which will leave an ugly tear.

Removing stickers that have been placed on the page for a short time can often be removed using a flat scrapbooking tool. Place the edge of the tool gently under the sticker and then push it gently under the entire sticker. Pulling the sticker up may cause the page to tear, if you can push the tool under, the sticker can often be removed successfully.

I use the Creative Memories Multipurpose tool to do this.

Dimensional Stickers

Dimensional stickers are a lot of fun to use. However if you use page protectors you need to make sure that the stickers are slim.

Below are a few examples of the variety of dimensional stickers available, find more dimensional stickers at A Cherry On Top scrapbook supply store.

Border Stickers

Border stickers are used for borders. Don't just add one, try combining several stickers together for a colourful effect. Or use one on the edge of the page, then add a line of seasonal stickers, and end with another line. For something a bit different, consider using boder stickers a third of the way down the page to section of journaling or criss cross the border stickers to make four quadrants on your page.

Tip: Border stickers can be tricky to use, because of their length try peeling the top of the sticker off its backing, adhere to the top of the page, and then slowly adhere the rest of the stick as you peel it from its backing. This makes it easy to guide and make a straight line. Don't rush this, take your time.
