Don't Let Your Memories Get Ruined!

The basis of almost every scrapbooking album begins with the paper that is used to create each page. Everyone looks for something different when creating their pages. My lens will help you decide what to look for and what to make sure you don't buy. Don't let your memories get ruined!

Acid Free Paper

Why is it important? Paper that does not contain acid is crucial to scrapbooking. Over time, acidic paper will discolor and turn brittle. What about the photos attached to this paper? They will be destroyed with your beautiful paper. For those who are skeptical, check out any random book or piece of paper that has been kept over the years. You will notice that the paper has become yellow and the texture has changed.

If you are looking to add your child's report card or another piece of paper to your craft project, try scanning it and printing it out on Acid FREE paper to preserve it.

Be sure to check your paper before purchasing it. Make sure it is Acid FREE so that it will last longer. After all, you want your beautiful projects to last forever. :-)

Lignin Free? What does that mean?

Many paper sellers don't mention whether or not the paper is Lignin FREE. Lignin has a similar affect on paper that acid does. For example, the newspaper contains lignin, thus it yellows pretty quickly. Paper containing lignin will give off acid as it gets older and therefore will become brittle and yellow. All of the colors on the pages will begin changing and the project will be ruined.

Solution: Be sure that your scrapbooking paper is both Acid and Lignin FREE. If it isn't noted in the seller's online listing, be sure to ask. You may not be able to prevent mistakes when creating your memorable project, but you can change the way it is preserved.
