NEW to Scrapbooking?

or is this page GREEK to ya?

NEW TO SCRAPBOOKING or not a scrapbooker and unaware what retreats are all about? Well, imagine packing up luggage for a typical family of 4, full only with your scrapbooking papers, adhesives, embellishments, albums, tools, stickers, etc., then cramming one more tote bag in your van containing just your change of clothes & toiletries. Then you drive (usually with a couple of like-minded scrapbooking friends) anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to a location like a resort, hotel, convention center, bed & breakfast or the like that's ready and waiting for you and perhaps 10-300 others. You set up at a table on Friday and work on your album pages ALL weekend until Sunday, taking breaks only to eat & sleep a few hours. ECSTACY . . .

    Just because you can't get a group together that fits everyones schedule doesn't mean weekend retreats are out! We have started an "open" scrapbooking weekend the second weekend of the month! So pack up your pictures, papers and tools and come meet some new frends at Papa's Cottage Retreat in Middle Tennessee.

    Scrapbooking retreats? I know there's meetups for everything but I wouldn't think of one for scrapbooks. Maybe people get great ideas from each other?

    Jimmy, you're right! The weekend retreats are a great place to get ideas from each other, but even more than that, it's a SOCIAL time! I often have mothers/daughters, sisters, long distance friends, etc. get together for a weekend to scrapbook AND get caught up on each other's lives. I liken it to the old fashioned quilting bees.

    Scrappin' Retreats in North Georgia is my favorite escape for a scrapbooking weekend with my group of scrappers. We've been going there at least twice a year since 2007 and have a wonderful time every time!
