Are YOU a Scrooge?

Scrooge grew up in an orphanage, never HAD a family nor a traditional happy Christmas. His mother died at his birth and his father left him. In the film 'A Christmas Carol' ghosts follow Scrooge through various stages of his life. They help him realize that he has done more bad than good and he eventually finds redemption.

Some become a Scrooge because they don't HAVE a family. Maybe they are estranged or just too far away to be together. Then there are those people who lost their family due to divorce or death, leaving the holiday to only be a painful reminder of happier times. Maybe they have their own 'Ghosts of Christmas Past' and wish to escape that sadness and loss. Facing the holidays without someone you love can put a painful tug in the stomach and tears in the eyes.

The financial strain of our down-turned economy might likely give birth to many variations of Scrooge during this holiday season.   Maybe Scrooge is tired of all the forced happiness and relentless cheer that accompanies the holiday season and finds it to be an insanity of over-commercialization, annoying relatives and stress.  Maybe even YOU have had your own Scrooge moments when you felt that way.

Don't be too hard on ole' Scrooge. What gift can you get some Grinch who does not feel the festive spirit as others do?  Have a blast here finding the perfect gift for your Scrooge.

Consider tiny tots watching TV commercials right now and getting excited about Santa coming and bringing toys on their Christmas list. Do ya suppose the word 'budget' means anything to these kiddos? Heck no, for even IF they knew what a budget was, they sure don't expect Santa Claus to have one. Hey, Santa is magic, right? He can do anything. So if the parents of those kids are challenged with the upcoming holidays, could anyone judge them? What will mom and dad do about 'playing Santa' this year if they are unemployed? Maybe they even lost their home this year due to foreclosure. Where will the money come from for all those toys? They can't tell the kid that Santa is dead, now can they?

your TIME!

THINK about it! Scrooge was Scrooge mainly because no one ever spent TIME with him...and both he and Grinch softened from their mean and nasty ways only when they finally got some kind of real love and were INCLUDED in holiday festivities. Take your Scrooge out to dinner. Ask his (her) opinion. Go fishing with him... Or go on some other outing. Offer to work on a project with him. Quit insisting that Scrooge define Christmas in the same way YOU do. Give Scrooge coupons for your TIME and watch the transformation...if you really CARE about your Grinchy-Scrooge.

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house, every creature was hurtin' even the mouse.
The toys were all broken, their batteries dead; Santa passed out, with some ice on his head.
Wrapping and ribbons just covered the floor, while upstairs the family continued to snore.
And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans, I went into the kitchen and started to clean.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a little white truck, with an oversized mirror.
The driver was smiling, so lively and grand; the patch on his jacket said "U.S. POSTMAN."
With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox. Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox.
Bill after bill, after bill, they still came. Whistling and shouting he called them by name:
"Now Dillard's, now Famous Barr's, now Neiman's and Sak's. Here's Walmart's, Kohl's and Target's and Sear's.
To the tip or your limit, every store, every mall, Now chargeaway-chargeaway-chargeaway all!"
He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work. He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk.
He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road, driving much faster with just half a load.
Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer,
"ENJOY WHAT YOU BOUGHT.......
YOU'LL BE PAYING ALL YEAR!"

O little Bank Americard, like money that grows on trees.
I sign my name, I feel no pain, til late January.
And if I reach my limit, don't think the shopping's done.
Take heart dear soul, don't lose control
Just order another one.
