Why do I need SEO?

From Hong Kong to Los Angeles, SEO is a new field whose importance in the global marketplace has already been well established.

You've invested a significant amount of time and money in your website - you're finally happy with how it looks, and the content is informative and interesting. But where is the traffic supposed to come from? How do I advertise my new website?

The majority of online traffic (90.0% of Searches in August, 2008) is generated through the three major Search Engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN. There are a number of ways to capitalize on the Search Engine traffic, including Pay Per Click programs. The downside of PPC campaigns is that they can get very expensive, and offer no real competitive edge: a rival company can oust you from the listing simply by throwing more money at the Search Engines. Studies have also shown that users prefer to click the organic listings over the paid listings by a wide margin.

So here's a question: when was the last time you were trying to find something online and made it to the third or fourth page in the Search Engine results? If you're like most online users, it's probably been a while. Pages that rank on the first page achieve exponentially greater click-through rates than pages from the lower listings, with the first three results obviously gaining the most click-throughs.

Through organic Search Engine Optimization, you can increase targeted traffic to your website, improve conversion rates, generate new leads, and rank highly in the Search Engine results pages.
