Syntax Search Tricks

Advanced Command Operators

First, I want to start with a few advanced operators that can help narrow down your search results:

Intitle: at the beginning of a query word or phrase restricts your search results to just the titles of Web pages. Example:

intitle:"Three Blind Mice".

Intext: does the opposite of intitle:, searching only the body text, ignoring titles, links, and so forth. Intext: is perfect when what you're searching for might commonly appear in URLs.
Example: If you're looking for the term HTML, for example, and you don't want to get results such as www.mysite.com/index.html, you can enter

intext:html

Link: lets you see which pages are linking to your Web page or to another page you're interested in.
Example:

link:http://www.pcmag.com

Site: Restricts results to top-level domains.
Example:

"FAQ"site:squidoo.com

will restrict the search only for the squidoo.com domain

Daterange: (start date-end date). You can restrict your searches to pages that were indexed within a certain time period. It searches by when Google indexed a page, not when the page itself was created. This uses the "julian calendar".
A converter can be found here: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/JulianDate.html
Example:

-filetype:zip OR rar daterange:2453402-2453412

will look for files of type zip/rar that has been indexed between 1-11 February

Filetype: Searches for a particular file extension (exe, mp3, etc)
Example:

"The Simpsons" filetype:torrent

will show the sites with torrent files for the Simpsons TV series.

Looking for specific files to download?

Get the exact result on the file you want

Now let's begin to look at some good tips on finding files:
(Type the commands as shown, directly into the search entry box of Google.)

Method 1
If you want to find mp3 files for downloading, related to the artist "jackson" type as follows:

?intitle:index.of? mp3 jackson

or if you are looking for an e-book written by Kafka

?intitle:index.of? pdf kafka

you can also try

intitle:"index of *" "jackson" mp3

.. you get the idea right?

Method 2
If that doesn't give you what you are looking for, you can also try this:

"parent directory " Xvid -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums

"parent directory " MP3 -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums

"parent directory " Name of Singer or album -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums

Notice that the only thing that changes is the word after the parent directory, change it to what you want and you will get a lot of stuff.

Method 3
Another way of getting good results on files to download is to type the following in your browser's address bar: (The command goes into one single line).

http://www.google.com/ie?q=parent-directory+"photoshop"+exe+OR+zip+OR+rar+OR+gzip+OR+tar+OR+bzip&num=100

Replace the word photoshop for anything you like.

Google and Rapidshare

How to use Google to find everything uploaded to Rapidshare

As you now, there is no way to directly look for something stored in Rapidshare.de
You always have to get the rapidshare URL from another site. But with Google we can overcome that situation !!

Just copy the following commands directly into your browser's address bar: (Every command goes into one single line).

All rapidshare.de Downloads:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=+.*+site%3Arapidshare.de

Apps Rapidshare.de Downloads:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=.cab+OR+.exe+OR+.rar+OR+.zip+site%3Arapidshare.de&btnG=Search

Movies rapidshare.de Downloads:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=+.Avi+OR+.mpg+OR+.mpeg+site%3Arapidshare.de&btnG=Search

Or you can enter the following data inside the google search box:

dvd site:rapidshare.de -filetype:zip OR rar

This will show any app posted with the word dvd in it.

Searching for e-books

Get direclty where the e-books are stored !

Instead of having to get throw ad pages, bad search engines and fake sites, Google lets you go direcly where the files are!

Just write the following inside the search box:

+("index of") +("/ebooks"|"/book") +(chm|pdf|zip|rar) +apache -intext:/ebooks

Or for a particular ebook you can try:

allinurl: +(rar|chm|zip|pdf|tgz) TheTitle

Don't forget to change TheTitle for the title of the book you are looking for ;-)
