The great thing about Seaside Style is that it's easy to achieve the look without spending a fortune. There are several key elements to follow:

Keep walls pale and paint with either cool blues, greens, whites or ivory.

Furniture should be simple in design and reflect the natural materials used in boatbuilding - wood, calico, cotton and linen. Similarly pattern and colour should be used as an accent rather than a key feature. Introduce typical seaside style designs such as stripes and flag motifs by including pillows, throws and bed-linen to add a subtle dash of variety.

Finally, finish the look with a few carefully chosen accessories which will ideally look as if you've had them in the family for years. Display a handpainted model yacht and hang vintage photos on the the walls.These can often be found cheaply in junk shops or on eBay
