Seattle's New Streetcar Debuts on South Lake Union
The Seattle Streetcar began running in December 2007. It's a great addition to Seattle, and runs past the new headquarters of Amazon.com. It enhances the Westlake neigborhood, and links South Lake union to downtown, and hopefully will soon expand its route.
The current route is a bit over one mile long, and connects South Lake Union to the downtown corridor.
The southernmost point on the route is Westlake Center, just under the monorail. The route passes the 2200 Westlake Building, which houses Whole Foods and the PanPacific Hotel, along with many numerous shops, such as an upscale pet supply store, a wonderful furniture store, as well as the requisite Starbucks. Parking is available underground, and with validation at this lot, you can ride the Streetcar to downtown.
The north end of the streetcar route is the Fred Hutchinson Medical Center. At this location are numerous restaurants on the waterfront, as well as the Moss Bay Sailing and Rowing Center.

AMAZON: Moving to NEW HQ,in South Lake Union Seattle:
3,000 New Jobs
Amazon's Seattle headquarters is moving to new and spacious headquarters in South Lake Union area of Seattle. This move will enable the company to bring together its 4,000 local workers. Those employees are currently scattered about in five separate facilities around town, linked by buses continually shuttling between the buildings.
Site includes 1.64 million sq. ft. (147,600 sq. m.) of headquarters space in 11 new buildings for 7,000 employees. This will bring together the current pool of Amazon employees, of 4,000, and add 3,000 new hires.
