This offseason is a huge one for the Seattle Mariners. They will be going into the new season with a new general anager and most probably a new skipper if last years interim skipper Jim Riggleman isnt offered another shot. New Seattle Mariners GM has 7 canidates so far for the job. The Seattle Mariners are hoping to keep last years RBI leader Raul Ibanez but it seems its going to take a lot to keep the 36 year old a Seattle Mariner. Ibanez is seeking to be playing in October for the first time in his career and the Seattle Mariners might not be the best place for him to reach that goal. Hopefully the Seattle Mariners learned from last year when the let veteran left fielder Jose Guillen go via free agency and they never found a suitable replacement. The Seattle Mariners will need a bunch of players if they want to compete next year. Last years bullpen was pretty good at times but somewhat inconsistent with J.J Putz getting hurt on the 2nd game of the year and never produced what hes capable of. Brandom Morrow cam out of nowhere and was a star while J.J tried to recover but with him in contention for a starting role along with Ryan Rowland-Smith they are going to need some help. The Mariners will probably try to trade away Jarrod Washburn who is due to make $10.2 million next year and Miguel Batista who is due to make $9 million next year. Both are in their final year of their contracts. The Seattle Mariners have several overpriced veterans on their roster and are looking to make their payroll smaller. Last year they finally said goodbye to Richie Sexson who was pretty much a bust after signing a huge contract to be a Seattle Mariner. If the Seattle Mariners cant keep Ibanez they are going to need at least 2 big bats in the middle of the order to compete. 2 other free agent are Willie Bloomquist and Miguel Cairo.
