What is the Secret and Why All the Fuss?

The Secret is a book written by and a DVD produced by Rhonda Byrne. The concept behind The Secret is certainly not new, and Rhonda Byrne and the others involved in the making of The Secret do not claim ownership of these concepts. The Secret was recently featured on two episodes of the Oprah Winfrey show, was discussed on the Today show on NBC on 2/27/07 and featured in a Newsweek article. It has also been discussed on Ellen and on Larry King Live.
What is The Secret, and why all the fuss about it? The Secret has generated an enormous amount of buzz recently, most likely attributed to the exposure the book and DVD had on the Oprah Winfrey show, among others. The movie version of The Secret has actually been available for online viewing for about a year, athough the book was just recently published.
The Secret is all about the law of attraction and using positive thought and visualization to attract the things and qualities that you desire. The concepts in The Secret are based on the book and teachings of Esther and Jerry Hicks in the book The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham. There are many contributors in the DVD who have had their own success in the realms of metaphysics, self-help and power of positive thinking. They are Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor, Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith, James Arthur Ray, Lisa Nichols, John Assaraf and authors Jack Canfield and Neale Donald Walsch among others.
The points of view and experiences of quantam physicists and well-known psychologists John Gray and Denis Waitley are also included.

Through this lens I hope to lead those interested in The Secret to additional sources of knowledge and information about the fascinating and amazing subjects of positive thinking, manifestation, the law of attraction and the power of intention.
