Secrets 2 Getting Traffic to Your Website
Traffic is arguably the single most important aspect of running a business on the Internet. Nothing else about your business really matters, because no matter how wonderful your product is, or how stunning your website design, if nobody sees it, your success is guaranteed to be a failure.
Secrets2Traffic endeavours to show you the simplest and quickest way to drive traffic to your website.

Free V Paid Traffic Methods
If you want to get instant, targeted traffic to your website, then paying for it is the quickest way to go.=> Set up an Adwords campaign on Google and you can have visitors flocking to your site in minutes.
=> Submit a top sponsor or solo ad and watch those visitors tripping over themselves in the rush to your site.
=> Issue a press release and you can open the door to a permanent flow of direct traffic.
The problem however, with paid traffic strategies, is that if you don't know what you're doing, you could end up spending much more money than you will ever make back!
Never, ever invest in paid Traffic generating strategies unless you have done the necessary background research and training in that particular method"
Which brings us to the Free Traffic methods. Personally, these are my favourite and done correctly can bring much more traffic to you than the paid variety. Plus, with a lot of the free methods, that traffic keeps on coming!
You pay for ppc campaign and as soon as you stop it, so does your traffic. Same with any form of paid advertising you have to keep paying if you want to keep getting the traffic.
But try blogging, article marketing, press releases, SEO and the traffic just keeps coming. Once started, you cannot stop it. So it's very important that you send it to the right place!
Because these are the best sources of getting traffic to your site, we'll deal with each of them in turn.
Paid Traffic Methods
- Pay Per Click (PPC)
- Top Sponsor Ads
- Solo Ads
- Ezine Advertising
- Press Release
Traffic Exchanges & Safelists
And the most effective way of using them is the same!
I know when I first started marketing online, I spent all of my time, surfing Traffic Exchanges and posting Safelist ads. But no matter how hard I tried I just wasn't having any success.
And the number of visitors to my site wasn't anywhere near enough to make any money. Now what usually happens here is that you think it is a waste of time so you go off looking for paid advertising.
Big mistake. These methods do work. But you have to know how to use them effectively.
The first thing you need to do is grab your referral url for each traffic exchange and safelist of which you are a member.
The second thing you need to do is add those referral urls to the other traffic exchanges and safelists.
The third thing you need to do is promote them like crazy.
Note don't promote traffic exchange A within traffic exchange A. Sounds simple, but you'd be amazed how many times I've seen this mistake made!
Now, you will pretty quickly build up a list of referrals within the different programmes. Why? Because everyone is looking for more ways to get traffic to their website. And the more opportunities you present to them, the more likely it is they will sign up to them.
As your list of referrals grows so does your number of credits. Because you recieve a percentage of all the credits they earn, you can quickly cut down on the number of hours you have to spend surfing and clicking.
Once you are earning enough credits from your referrals to be generating a significant amount of traffic, then you can start to promote your own website.
Making the sacrifice early on, will pay big dividends in the long term.
Article Marketing
Article Marketing is a great way of getting traffic to your website. You would think every marketer would use this method since it brings such huge rewards, but the truth is it's very under used.Writing and submitting articles not only gives you the chance to get traffic to your website, but it also positions you as an expert in your field, so the visitors who come to your site are already more inclined to buy from you.
There are a huge number of article sites out there. My personal favourite is EzineArticles.com but you can also use GoArticles.com another high traffic article site.
Simply write an article on a topic related to your product or service and submit it to any number of sites. Within the author resource box, you put a link back to your site. When anyone reads your article, they can click back to your site for more information.
The beauty of submitting articles is that often your article will be reprinted by someone else so it is quickly distributed all over the Internet. Your link can be seen by millions of people within a very short space of time.
Any time anyone publishes one of your articles, they have to include your link and give you the credit for the article. If you find one of your articles reprinted somewhere without the link, then you have the right to have it removed or have your link put in there.
Once submitted, a single article can continue to bring traffic to your site forever. You never have to touch it. It is there and will always be there.
Now, for a couple of tips on article writing.
=> Your article needs to be good quality information. Nobody will bother clicking back to your site if you have written a load of trash.
=> When you submit an article, set up a Google alert so that you get notified each time that article is published. This is really useful to help identify if someone republishes your article without including your author links.
=> Submit your article to the social bookmarking sites. This helps to get traffic to your article which, in turn, gets traffic to your website.
=> Repurpose your article. One article can easily be turned into a video, a PDF, a Podcast .... By doing this, you get even more backlinks to your site, and giving people a wider range of ways to access your content is never a bad thing. Also, check out the video below to see how you can use the power of RSS with your article marketing.
A word about 'duplicate content'. If you are going to submit your articles to multiple sites, then you need to change the content every time. Duplicate content will result in heavy penalties from the search engines.

Blogging
Why?
1 => Simplicity. Anyone can blog. Blogging is nothing more than putting your thoughts and ideas into an online forum. You get to choose the content posted in your blog. You get to express your own opinions on any topic you choose. You get to reach out to millions of people who otherwise may never have heard of you.
2 => Cost. There are a whole range of free blogging sites that you can choose to host your blog. So there is no additional cost weighing down your already over burdened marketing budget. Blogger and Wordpress are the two most widely known. But there are others. Just search them out on Google.
3 => Blogging is a great way to actually 'interact with your customers. You can find out exactly what they are looking for, what is their biggest problem, what do they like about your product, what don't they like about your product...
4 => Traffic. It's much easier to get traffic to a blog than a static website. The fresh content on a blog will continually pull the search engines in to crawl all over it. All you have to do is put in a link back to your website, and send all those visitors where you really want them.
See the video below on how to easily get backlinks to your blog from sites with a PageRank of 1-7. This is really useful for increasing your own PR as well as your traffic.
And finally, to make this process even easier check out the tool I use. CommentSniper allows you to monitor all your favourite high ranking blogs and immediately notify you when a new post is made.
The beauty of this is that you get to post your comment first and if it's your comment at the top, that is the one that is going to get the most folks clicking on the link. Of course, this is assuming your comment adds value to the original post!
Search Engine Optimisation
Simple isnt' it?
Well, the theory may be simple, but actually doing it is far from easy. Search engines are constantly changing and adapting the way they work. So some SEO technique that worked last year, probably won't work this year.
Yet there are still some basics that everyone can and should be following.
1 => Define your keywords. What would someone looking to buy your product be most likely to type into a search box? This is your starting point.
2 => Research your keywords. Before you optimise your site, make sure you optimise it with keywords that are going to bring you traffic. There are some great free keyword research tools out there. My favourite is DigitalPoint Solutions.com Google's own keyword tool has now been updated to show you actual numbers of searches for particular keywords!
3 => Once you know what your target keywords are, then you need to optimise your website to take advantage of them. This means having those keywords appear in your headline, your tagline, and your body content.
4 => Backlinks. The more backlinks you get to your site, the more it will be seen as an authority within it's field, and the higher it will rank in the search engines.
Now this is just really simple stuff that anyone can do. Obviously, you can get a whole lot more into this if you want to do so. SEO is definitely worth exploring because of the benefits it brings with free search engine traffic.
Check out the video below for the best way to make full use of SEO techniques.
My Recommendations
Personally, I think it's important to get the balance right. I don't believe in paying for something if I can get something just as good for free. But at the same time, if the paid version is going to give me more traffic and ultimately more sales, then I have no hesitation in paying up.
And let's be honest. There's not a business in the world where you can get rich with zero investment. Regardless of what anyone out there tells you! :)
