Who Does What
SIA Security Guard licence is the ideal course for Retail, Construction sites, Offices and other sites except for Bars, Nightclubs and Arenas. The working environments of security guards/security officers can vary and include; civic centres, hostels, care homes, fire stations, museums, leisure centres, sports fields, cemeteries, tourist information offices and almost all buildings/land owned by the local authority where there is potential risk. The work can be routine, boring even when nothing happens and exciting when it does.
The position of an SIA Security Guard licence holder includes customer service that includes reception duties, responding to alarms, key control and patrol duties. SIA Licenced training for Security Guards is created to provide you with the skills needed to work in specialised areas.
Door Supervisor:
Door supervisors, on the other hand, are also trained for physical intervention and that makes them the ideal candidate to work outside pubs, clubs, retail shops, events like football matches and in other words, at any place where one has to deal with members of the public.
SIA Door Supervisors are expected to deal with the public in special licensed premises on a regular basis and the need for SIA license training for Door Supervisors in order to carry out their duties; abiding by the rules and regulations. SIA Door Supervisors are needed at entrances to carefully monitor and make careful decisions about customers entering licensed premises and keeping order and also public safety.
CCTV Operator
CCTV operators work seated in front of banks of VDU screens. They are usually expected to work in a shift system over 24 hours. They may work in small teams or alone and are in frequent telephone and radio contact with colleagues, security staff and police.
CCTV operators may be responsible for up to 15 screens, receiving live pictures that come in automatically from over 100 surveillance cameras. They are required to monitor the screens constantly
