How to Remove Security Shield

Ranked #21,856 in Computers & Electronics, #421,777 overall

Aaaaaaaahhhhh! What is going on?

Security Shield is another malware that will take your computer hostage and basically not allow you to do anything. You can get it through trojans that apear to be one type of download that is innocent, but in reality are a type of malacious software.

A good rule of thumb when surfing the net is to never believe any type of message that you get that something needs to be downloaded. You will need plug-ins for certain programs to work, but when a download is requested research it first. Go to the makers website and find a secure download if you know that you need it. Keep in mind what software you have and let them automatically update. If a request is made from a website that software needs to be updated, leave the site and go to the creator's site and download it from there. If you return to the original site and it still request that you need an update, don't download it.

IMPORTANT

Never delete the files that Security Shield lists as threats to your computer. They are files that normally reside on your hardrive.

Symptoms of a Security Shield Infection

You computer is sick and Nyquil won't work

remove security shieldOnce Security Shield has been downloaded without your knowledge, it will then begin to run fake scans on your computer. It will give you a list of terrible files that have infected your computer and ask you for money to get rid of the files. The problem is that the files that are listed are usually just normal files that are on any hard drive. Never manually delete these files from your computer or you system may not function properly.

Any program that you try to execute will be terminated and you will receive a message that the file is infected and should be removed. This is a protection strategy that Security Shield uses to prevent the user from using any software that might remove it from the system.

When you open your browser, you will see the Security Shield page (see image above). You will not be able to move from that page. When you try to close the page, more error messages will pop up stating that your computer will self implode within 5 seconds. Well, maybe not self implode, but that it is on the verge of a slow painful death and you must spend money to save it. You actually don't have to spend a dime and can save it quite easily.
