How The Sedona Method Can Help You

The essence of the Sedona Method is simplicity.

In fact, most people find it just too simple at first. Our minds don't believe that the three questions that the Sedona method asks (over and over and over and over again!) actually work.

They do work.

Brilliantly, in fact.

Once you let go and get your conscious mind out of the equation.

Of course, that's often easier said than done. We'll talk about the 3 Sedona questions a bit later but for the minute, let's have a look at some of the claims:

  • You'll easily break bad habits - whether it's smoking, eating too much or anthing else

  • You'll release your anxieties and let go of the stress and tension in your life

  • You'll create wealth, seemingly out of thin air

  • Your goal setting will be powerful and will actually work this time

Those are some pretty big claims.

I can definitely say that the goal setting works. A few years ago, I did a Sedona goal setting session on moving house. I envisioned a large house, in the center of the town I like to live in. It had a garage, lots of rooms and a garden, which is unusual in my town for a centrally located property. All this was to happen within 6 months of setting the goal.

I then did what most everyone does with their goals, most of the time.

I forgot all about it.

But I did get the urge a couple months later to "just look" at houses. 4 of them to be precise. All kind of fitted the goal, except for the garage part of it.

The one I chose (and am still happily living in) matched all the criteria - except the garage, but I've got a driveway that comfortably holds 4 cars, so I'm happy with that.

6 months to the day of setting the goal and promptly forgetting about it, I'd moved in.

So the Sedona Method definitely works. Even if you're a real human and don't follow up with things as much as you would in an ideal world.

Hale Dwoskin, the narrator of the CD set and author of the Sedona books, admits that quite a few people work this way. And the Sedona method works fine with that process.

The Main 3 Sedona Method Questions

The Sedona Method really is deceptively simple.

You start by identifying a feeling. When I first started the system, I actually found this quite difficult. I wasn't as "in touch" with myself and my feelings.

But even that doesn't matter - if you're stuck like I was, you'll probably feel frustrated. You've just got the CD set and the darn system isn't working for you. How dare it?!

So I started with the feeling of frustration.

But you can use any feeling you like.

Then you ask yourself a series of three questions:

1. Could I let it go?
2. Would I let it go?
3. When?

Answer each question in turn.

So first ask yourself whether you could let the particular feeling you're focusing on go.

Answer either "yes" or "no".

Either answer is perfectly acceptable. But you can't sit on the fence, so "maybe" isn't an allowable answer.

Then ask yourself would you let the feeling go?

Again, it's a yes/no question.

It doesn't matter to the working of the Sedona Method which answer you give. If you want to stay feeling frustrated, grumpy, angry, whatever. That's fine. Just answer honestly.

And if you would be perfectly to let the feeling go, that's fine as well.

One other trick you can play is to let the feeling go for just a split second. Then grab it back again. That's fun and acceptable - you're not asking if you'd be happy to let the feeling go forever!

Finally, ask yourself "when?".

So if you want to wallow in the feeling for another 30 seconds or 10 minutes or a week or however long you feel like, that's fine.

If the answer is "never", that's fine as well.

Just do your best to make sure that the answer has a definite time frame. So "Sometime between now and when hell freezes over" wouldn't be a good answer.

Then repeat the questioning.

The first few times, I found it incredibly hard to answer these seemingly simple questions.

I struggled.

Big time.

In retrospect, I think I was analyzing my answers too much.

Your first instincts are probably best. So if the first answer that flashes through your mind is "No way", go with it.

Once I got over that "barrier", I found my progress a lot faster.

The Sedona Method: Your Key to Lasting Happiness, Success, Peace and Emotional Well-Being

Amazon Price: $11.56 (as of 09/04/2008)
List Price: $17.00

The book's core observation is that we allow emotions based on old memories to block our minds and bodies from experiencing what is possible now. Many self-help authors make the same point.

What makes The Sedona Method different from the others is the proposed method for eliminating those emotions. I have learned many other techniques for changing memories (such as the Tony Robbins Swish pattern) and use meditation to withdraw from emotions. I have found that meditation has worked best for me in the past. While meditating, my head is pleasantly vibrating and I feel at mental peace. With The Sedona Method teachings, I find that my whole body shudders pleasantly into relaxation and peace. In other words, this process causes me to enjoy a greater release from old memories and emotions than I had thought possible. It's a wonderful gift.

A Few Things The Sedona Method Can Help With

I've already mentioned goal setting earlier. The Sedona Method is very powerful for this - you release on each thing that is getting in the way of you reaching your goal. You'll be absolutely amazed at some of the seemingly insignificant things that crop up with this.

Apathy is another thing that the Sedona method is great with. Apathy is probably the lowest state you can be in - it really is an "I can't be bothered" state of affairs. Releasing on the feeling gets you quickly up the ladder of emotional states and puts you in a better place to deal with the world.

Grief is another area that the Sedona method can help with. Grieving is a natural process for humans and other mammals. Eventually, though, it's time to move on and start being productive in your life again. Using the Sedona method here can help you to deal with your grief and stop it from holding you back.

Bad habits dissolve with the help of the Sedona method. Whether your goal is to stop eating too much, quit smoking, curb your anger or bring the romance back into your life (yes, relationships can turn into bad habits as well), then using the simple Sedona processes will be of great help.

But enough talk.

If you're happy to part with your email address then click here and get a free Sedona Method CD and DVD mailed to you. There's no high pressure selling - the system works too well for that.

I've found the Sedona method to be of great help in my life in the years that I've been using it. Give it a try yourself and see whether it will work wonders for you as well.

History of the Sedona Method

The Sedona Method is a self-help technique developed by the late engineer/physicist/businessman Lester Levenson after a serious heart attack nearly ended his life. Lester regained his health and attributed his renewed positive outlook to a process of self-inquiry of one's beliefs and related emotions.

The process is designed to examine any emotion that one is experiencing and then "let it go" or release it in the moment. The basic premise is that all emotions naturally come and go out of experience unless one resists them. The idea is supported in the writings of Carl Jung who noted, "What we resist persists."

Hale Dwoskin, President of Sedona Training Associates, has appeared in The Secret and is the primary teacher and facilitator of the Sedona Method. Hale learned the Sedona Method from Lester Levenson beginning in 1976 and worked closely with Lester until Lester's death in 1994.

The process is taught as a practical technique that is related to a similar process called the Release Technique, which is taught by another former student of Lester Levenson's, Larry Crane.
