A Lens About Lenses
Are you new to Squidoo? Try your hand at lensmaking, and I doubt you'll ever leave. Go ahead...create your first lens today! It's easy, free, and truckloads of fun.
On January 13, 2009, I received an email informing me that I had been accepted as a Giant Squid. I'm now swimming towards my next goal: 100 lenses. I'm awed by the pool of talent we have here at Squidoo, and I learn something new every day, just by browsing such wonderfully creative lenses. My hat's off to each of you.
And now...here's my attempt to keep track of my lenses. I've grouped them into categories, and will try to remember to add fresh lenses as they roll off the Squidoo assembly line.
All Things Squidoo
...because we lensmasters need a helping hand
When I first arrived at Squidoo, it was like stepping into a world where nobody spoke my language. I wasn't afraid to ask questions, though, and soon I had a better idea of how to get from point A to point B. I learned the language, by reading articles in The Answer Deck, visiting lenses, and checking out the daily conversations at SquidU.
I've added to each of these lenses as I've run across additional links. I plan to continue adding, so they'll become good sources of reference for newcomers to Squidoo.

Travel
...places I've been, places I'd like to visit

Right before nodding off to sleep, an idea struck: I could make a series of geography lenses, for people who enjoy exploring little-known countries from their nice cushy computer chair.
Amazing Webventures was born. So far I've created three, with plans to add more soon. Nice surprise: Homeschoolers are loving them.

Beauty in my own Backyard
Seedplanter's photography

I grew up with a Brownie Instamatic--a little lightweight point-and-shoot film camera. Half my pictures had dark corners where my thumb had somehow gotten in the way (probably from flinching every time a growly dinosaur galloped by.)
Today I'm blessed with a great set of camera equipment and a love for nature photography. Plus, after digging up my entire backyard and replacing lawn with flowerbeds and meandering paths, I have a wildlife sanctuary just a few steps out the back door.
Here are my photography & gardening-related lenses:

Food & Cooking

I didn't set out to create food lenses, it just happened. I had read an article in our Sunday paper, about how children usually don't like some of the green veggies. I disagreed. If you fix them, they'll like them. Food shouldn't be a constant battle.
Those two veggie lenses led me to two others that were quite different. But hey, isn't that the fun of Squidoo? Nobody erects fences around our ideas.

Crafts Fun for Kids
...recycling at its best!

Homeschooling parents and classroom teachers are raving over my kids' crafts series, because they go beyond the usual construction paper/crayons/paint projects. They use only recycled items.
I've done the legwork so you can focus on fun.

Creativity & Artmaking
Turn your creativity up a notch
I love bumping into unusual types of art. It is so interesting to see how creative minds work. One person's art may not be another, but there seems to be a mutual respect among artists. They each know what it takes to see an idea through from germination to fruition.

Holidays
Celebrate Special Occasions with Seedplanter

Holidays always feel like a much-needed pause. When I was a girl, holidays meant no school. Now that I'm older (read: over-the-hill), holidays are precious because they remind me of special times spent with family and friends. They're also an opportunity to make new memories for the generation that follows.
Here are my holiday lenses. I'll be adding to them as the year progresses.

Just for Laughs
Laughter truly is the best medicine...

More than ever, people need a break from the everyday. Turn off the politics and news. Stop the usual schedule and just breathe. Listen to music. Go to lunch with a friend.
I created several humor lenses because laughter has a way of crowding out anxiety. It's healthier than stuffing your face with chocolate or caffeinating yourself into a coffee stupor, although I've been known to do both from time to time.

Handling Challenges, Celebrating Life

Although I could place these lens in more specific categories (food/cooking or animals/nature, for instance), they each convey a special message about life. For that reason, I've decided to create this category and name it, simply, Life.

I'm a sentimental type. Memory is a gift and I'm so grateful that mine is still intact! In fact, I have detailed memories about people and places all the way back to age 2.
Because we spent 21 years as a military family, we learned to say our helloes and goodbyes quickly, and make anywhere a home. We didn't waste time longing to live in more familiar surroundings, but made the best out of our new surroundings and built a home for ourselves.
This section will be about family, beginning with one Christmas when we had little money and a lot of homesickness.

One of my "hats" is that of a product reviewer - software, books, toys, and occasional hardware. Although I didn't review the Amazon Kindle Wireless Reader, I did purchase one myself and think it was a good buy. I'll feature it first in this section, and will be adding more soon. I'm in the process of reviewing some great Adobe products.
