Who am I?

Avid reader: Biographies and classics unless it is for my bookclub

Scrapbooker: Have been scrapping since 1994 and I've taught classes on how to scrapbook

Photographer: Strictly amateur, I just can't stop clicking - Learning to use my not-so-new Nikon D40

Gardener: Mostly vegies and herbs, I don't do well with flowers. My indoor plants are thriving and I am currently surrounded by vines over 30ft long trailing around all four walls of my room. I do like my plants.

Traveler: So many places, so little time. I've lived on four continents 7 countries and goodness knows how many cities and homes!

Former Homeschooling mom (or perhaps that's mum):Kids are no longer homeschooled.

Volunteer: I've volunteered my whole life, I love it and feel useless when I don't do it.

Vegetarian: Since 1989.

LOTD

Ever seen people writing about LotD?

It stands for Lens Of The Day. I've been fortunate to have had two LotD's. My Where The Wild Things Are book lens given this honour in 2009 and Eiffel Tower for Kids lens received LotD in October, 2011.

If you would like to find out more about LotD visit the Squidoo HQ, Lens Of The Day blog.

Little Blue Fairy Penguins

One of my favourite lenses

I like this lens because it makes me a bit nostalgic. It's the easiest lens I've made and also the quickest, just two hours. Most of the time I spend a week or so creating a lens, but this one just wrote itself and has been my most visited lens since it was created. I constantly update and I consider it one of my old faithfuls. It doesn't make any money, but I really don't care. I just love my fairy penguin lens. They really are cute aren't they.

Where The Wild Things Are

Lots of Wild thing lenses

I've always loved this book. What is it about children's books that really stay with us well into adulthood? I still have many more planned on this topic.

I now have a Where The Wild Things Are lensography to keep track of all of my Wild Thing pages.

Blue Elephant

While in Amsterdam we saw many beautifully decorated elephants. Late in 2009 the elephants where auctioned to raise money for the Elephant Family Charity which works to save Asian Elephants from extinction. In 2010 the Elephant Parade was in London.

Rocket Moms Superstar Lens

Rocket Mom Superstar LensI am proud to have received my first Rocket Moms Superstar Lens award for May 4th in Session 7 of Rocket Moms.

This is my first session, and the award is for Travel with Kids. I was able to make this lens fairly quickly because we travel soooooo much and I love traveling with my kids. My girls are great fun to be with, and while we have had some trips that weren't as successful as others, I've been able to employ a few of my time tested strategies to make the situation better.

Thanks for the award!

Don't you wish you were a Rocket Mom?

On Being a Vegetarian

I've been a vegetarian for 20 years. I don't particularly enjoy cooking except for special occasions when I know that people will take their time and enjoy the meal. That is when I like to try out new things and really try to present the food in a pleasing way. Everyday cooking is a chore for me.

I'd plan to continue writing more lenses on being a vegetarian, but if you want recipes you will have to take a look at my tasty vegetarian recipes lens where I have collected lenses from around squidoo from people who actually enjoy the cooking process.

Scrapbooking

In 1994 I discovered Scrapbooking. This was one of those moments where I had an idea on how I wanted to complete my photo albums, but I couldn't figure out how. After trying to make my old magnetic albums more creative, I wandered to the local mall and saw a genealogical display that had these great scrapbooking albums. I immediately contacted the woman who sold these albums and ordered an awful lot of supplies. Talk about diving in head first! The saleslady said it was the easiest sale she had ever made.

Since then I have been an avid scrapbooker. I've sold scrapbooking supplies, taught classes and helped friends create meaningful scrapbooks for their family members as gifts. Helping others get their photos together and teaching them to scrapbook is one of the most meaningful and enjoyable things that I have done.

If you've never tried scrapbooking now is a great time to start!

I love to travel

I've always loved travel, I think it was a result of all of the National Geographic magazines that I read as a child. So far I only have one lens and it is about the Eiffel Tower. I was inspired to write about it after seeing that Famous Landmarks was one of the Carnival of Squid topics. Since I had been to the Eiffel Tower for the 3rd time just three weeks prior everything was still fresh in my mind.

Harry Potter

I've been reading the Harry Potter books to my children for years. Of course they are old enough to read them on their own now. We have listened to the Harry Potter audio books on long trips, and watched all of the movies. We saw the last movie at the midnight showing the first night it came out. I'm not sure how my children talked me into it, but I'm glad I went. We've also signed up for Pottermore and will be writing more on that once we have access to the site.
