On 9/14/07 we sent you a Segway XT that was having a wiring problem. BOTH BATTERIES HAD GREEN LIGHTS ON THE CHARGING SYSTEM, WE ALSO SENT YOU 3 KEYS ALONG WITH THE UNIT.



That was a unit that we purchased from Shay at Gildingrevolution.com and according to Shay was still under warranty.



We were told that after speaking with Judy it was all arranged to have us ship the unit to you guys and it would be fixed and returned to us approx. 4 weeks after it had arrived in your care.



Now the unit was shipped back to Shay without the keys and the batteries no longer functioning. We spoke with David in technical support on one occasion to follow up on the unit. He told us that he personally was not working on it and that he would get the "rep" that was to call us back. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. Also we attempted to speak with David on his DIRECT line on 7 different occasion and left 7 different voice mails NEVER HERING BACK FROM HIM OR SEGWAY AGAIN !!!



Shay has since taken care of us and sent out a new unit which is a testament to the exceptional way he treats his clients.



However, SEGWAY seems to have some challenges and a blatant inability to communicate to it's customers. YOU GUYS SENT THE UNIT TO A DIFFERENT PERSON THEN THE PERSON WHO SENT IT TO YOU! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? Also, you sent it back without the keys and in worse condition then when you got it.

Attempted conversation with Segway below:

Please help us to understand how that can happen, we are new to Segway and the Segway Tours concept and I can't imagine that this is how any company wants to be perceived by the general public.

Segway warranty??

11-2-07 My recent experience with Segway Inc in Bedford, NH has not been so great. I recently sent one of my fleet Segways back for repair and was told that there would be a 4 week turn around time. Now it is in the 6th week and although a Segway Inc employee contacted me in the 4th week, I still I have not received my Segway back. It appears that when you need a Segway repair to a fleet Segway, it might be more cost effective to just pay for the repair outside of the warranty. If anyone has any comments or suggestions about Segway repair experiences, please share. So far, the best suggestion that I received came from the DSW dealer (Dallas, TX) when he said "I yell at the Segway employee just after they answer the phone" and that speeds up the process. I'm sure there has to be a better way to get your Segway fixed in a reasonable time. Just to see if it worked, I tried it with my last Segway that went faulty and I actually recieved the Segway back within that week- fixed! Again, INFORMATION IS POWER!

What do you do if your Segway is not riding straight?

What do you do if your generation 1 Segway is pulling to one direction when riding? The first step is to evenly adjust your tires to somewhere between 15-22 psi (Evenly). Second step to resolve your Segway pulling in one direction more than the other is to replace the turn knob on the handlebar (this is a consumable part) cost is approximately $70. Third step to resolve a Segway that is pulling in one direction more than the other is to ship it to Segway Inc (approximately $175 shipping cost) and wait at least 4 weeks, then you can pay Segway Inc around $70 for the turn knob replacement. Information is Power!

What do you do if your SEGWAY has a wrench? THIS TOPIC RELATES TO GENERATION 1 MODEL SEGWAYS ONLY!

If you attempt to power your Segway and comes up with a wrench signal, what do you do?

The first step to repairing a Segway that has a wrench is to disconnect the two cables that attach the handlebar to the base unit (leave disconnected for a few minutes) and try to start the Segway again after reconnecting the cables.
The second step to repairing your Segway that comes up with a wrench is to reseat the batteries but if after you reseat the batteries a redlight comes on when charging, your battery or batteries may be defective.
The third step to repairing a Segway that has a wrench is to try a different handlebar (if you have another Segway in your possession).
The forth step to repairing a Segway that has a wrench is to remove the handlebar from the base unit and use a hot blowdryer to dry any precipitation that might have entered your unit thru your key hole of the charging port.
The fifth step to repairing a Segway that has a wrench is to identify the code of the wrench using your local Segway dealer and again ship your Segway back to Segway Inc. (Bedford, NH). To date, there are no Segway dealers that are authorized to use the computer diagnostic system that Segway Inc. uses to fix your units. Droping off your Segway at your local dealer might relieve your stress about your Segway repair but it might also increase your downtime and expense because Segway dealers need to make money too.

Segway, Segway sucks, I bought 5 units and all batteries died and they left me out to dry, I will be starting a segway sucks website in the next week. Devoted to making people aware that these cost more than any gas transport
