Buy eco friendly toys from Selecta wooden toys

If you want to buy green eco-friendly toys, Selecta is for you. Selecta wooden toys is a German company. They design and make their toys in Germany, using non-toxic products. They have very high standards. Of course, Selecta toys are more expensive. But you pay for quality. You have a choice to make: one great quality, safe and non toxic toy, or two toys made out of god knows what in China by big company such as Mattel.

I have made the choice for my little boy. He has less, but I know he can put everything he has in his mouth without concern for his health. You can buy these wood toys online as well as selected toy shop worldwide.

Selecta Fattoria Farm Wooden Picture Cube Puzzle Blocks - Made in GERMANY

Amazon Price: $61.88 (as of 06/03/2012)Buy Now

I bought my son a box of Selecta cubes puzzle when he was one year old. Beautiful wood blocks, finished with beeswax. This wood puzzle is a versatile toy. My son played and still play a lot with it. Depending on you kid's age, he will use it different ways: the first stage will be just grabbing, looking at the colors and such. You can do the puzzle and show him the images and tell stories. A little later, when he has more dexterity he will try to stack the cubes. At this stage you can do the puzzle, showing him how to do it. Later on he will try to do the puzzle all by himself.

Beautiful wooden books where you and your child make whatever story you want! My son has 3 different ones and I do "read" from them since he is 6 months old. Now at 4 he has given them to his 6 months old sister. These books are very nice to handle, very smooth and cute.

Selecta Pull Toy

I am the one who falled in love with this toy over 4 years ago and bought it because it was cute. It's the first Selecta toy I bought for my son. This is a great toy for toddler: it combines a pull toy and a stacking toy. Very safe, the pins where you stack the rings are pliable so if you kid falls on it he won't be hurt. The colors are vivid and this toy was a hit with my son.

I enjoy making wooden toys and giving them as gifts to nieces, nephews and my own kids. My oldest niece still has a doll cradle that I made over 15 years ago!

We are trying to reduce the amount of plastic that our kids are exposed to. We recently switched to glass dishware and chucked the plastic cups.

I was sorry to hear that this week Selecta will no longer be selling their toys to the US market. This is because the cost of proving compliance with the new rules would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars (not complying...the cost of proving compliance). The law could easily have been written to raise toys to a higher standard without the draconian compliance requirements that are being in place and which will cause the disappearance of many more natural toys that we LOVE! Find out more at www.squidoo.com/fixcpsia. Please get informed & involved to help get changes that can keep the toys safe AND still having a toy (and children's products market).
