Selecta is a German company. They design and make their toys in Germany, using non-toxic products. They have very high standards. Of course, Selecta toys are more expensive. But you pay for quality. You have a choice to make: one great quality, safe and non toxic toy, or two toys made out of god knows what in China by big company such as Mattel.
I have made the choice for my little boy. He has less, but I know he can put everything he has in his mouth without concern for his health.
High quality, ecological toys.
They use non-toxic dyes, paints and laquers. They also put Beewax finish on all their toddler's toys.
All their toys are in compliance with European and US standards (EN71, ASTM)

Jump n Jive Doorway Jumpers
Name of Product: Jump 'n Jive Doorway Jumpers
Units: About 2,400
Manufacturer: Graco Children's Products Inc., of Atlanta, Ga.
Hazard: The recalled doorway jumpers include detachable toys that are attached to the jumper straps with strips of hook and loop fabric. The strips of fabric are not permanently attached to the toys and can become detached during use, posing a choking hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: The company has received one report of a child removing the fabric strip and placing it in his/her mouth. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled doorway jumper includes an interactive musical dance mat and two detachable toys. The model number, 1755544, appears on the carton UPC label and on the underside of the jumper tray. The doorway jumpers were sold from April 2009 through July 2009.
Sold at: Babies R Us and other children's speciality retail stores nationwide and online from Amazon.com for about $55.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and remove and discard the detachable toys and the attaching fabric strips and call the manufacturer for a replacement set of toys. After the toys and fabric strips are removed, consumers can continue to use the jumper and interactive musical dance mat.

- I was sorry to hear that this week Selecta will no longer be selling their toys to the US market. This is because the cost of proving compliance with the new rules would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars (not complying...the cost of proving compliance). The law could easily have been written to raise toys to a higher standard without the draconian compliance requirements that are being in place and which will cause the disappearance of many more natural toys that we LOVE!
