Wow, this stuff sounds very powerful. I would love my daughter to carry it while she is out running. You are right, we are living in a very different world and you never know when you might encounter a problem. It sounds so powerful I am surprised the US government allows companies to sell it. Great lens.

Bear mace seems to be quite effective for self defence.

The best thing I've found for cougars is a couple martinis and some lounge music, but I suppose bear mace would probably also work.
  • TopMovieSoundtracks Sep 14, 2011 @ 6:09 am | delete
    Is there anything for cougars?

The same bear spray products are sold in Canada and the US. I knew there was something different about them so I looked it up. They have different labeling requirements. 2% Capsaicin and other related capsaicinoids is allowed in the US and only 1% capsaicin is allowed, in Canada.

I found this lens very interesting and educational.

I have been tempted to get some bear mace -but not for protecting myself against humans (I don't live near too many) - but I do have a lot of bear where I live, and also sometimes not-very-friendly dogs. I just don't know if I'd have the courage to USE it. As Tipi says (just below my comment), definitely need to check the wind! :)
  • Tipi Jun 24, 2011 @ 9:39 pm | delete
Always remember to check the wind when spraying bear mace, nasty stuff!

Good information to have. I have a daughter who will be off to college in a few years, and would like her to have some of this.
  • Tipi Nov 20, 2010 @ 3:12 pm | delete
Wow you certainly have the bases covered on this powerful product. By the video, it looks like you are wanting to die for a while after being sprayed. Quite the information.

I was robbed in the middle of the day, and after that I always carried pepper spray in my bag. Made me feel a bit more secure. Wish I had had it before!

It's a pity that pepperspray and such are illegal in holland... We don't have that much trouble that I'm aware of though...
