Self-Publishing on Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing Platform
Ranked #1,510 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #66,644 overall
Authors, Publish Your Titles in the Amazon Kindle Store --- It's Free and Easy!
If you'd like to sell it on Amazon, I can help walk you through the process. First of all, do you have a manuscript already written? Or have you not finished writing it yet? That's the biggest thing to start with, having all the writing done and compiled into a single document. You might already use it, but Google Documents is what I used to put together my manuscript and it worked really well for me.

Preparing Your Manuscript
First, upload your manuscript to Google Docs.
Select the option to convert your file to Google Docs formats.
Read it through and edit/spell check the document more than once.
In the file menu, select "Download As" and then select "PDF" from the sub menu.
Cover Design/Graphics

If you are good with Photoshop, I suggest creating your own cover design. Gimp would work too. But if you're not familiar with these programs, like me, then you should check out a website called Fiverr because there are tons of people and designers on there willing to create ebook cover art for only $5! I used this site for my book, and was very happy with the results. I highly recommend it and think that it is well worth the five bucks.

Publishing on Amazon
Now it's time to publish your ebook on Amazon, which isn't too hard. Here are the steps:
-
1
You will need an Amazon account, so if you don't have one already then create one easily by registering. Only takes about five minutes.
-
2
Once you are logged in, you want to scroll to the bottom of the page and in the site footer you will see some orange text that says "Make Money With Us" and below that, one of the options will be "Independently Publish With Us". This is what you want to click.
-
3
This should take you to this page and you want to select "Kindle Books" on the menu to the left.
-
4
This should take you to a page that says "Kindle Direct Publishing" and it will ask you to sign in with your Amazon account again.
-
5
Find Bookshelf, you want to click the button that says "Add New Title"
-
6
Now you should be on a page that says "Your Book"
-
7
Next, you will be taken to the page to set up the pricing and royalties for your book.
-
8
After you have clicked the publish button, you will have to wait for about two days so that Amazon can include your new title in its catalog and create a product page for it. While this process is taking place, the status of your book will say "In Review" or "Publishing." Once it is up and ready for people to purchase, the status will change to "Live."
-
9
Whenever you want to check on your book sales, just click the same link you started out with (The one that says "Self-Publish With Us" at the bottom of Amazon's home page). Continue to login to Kindle Direct Publishing the same way you did before, and once you are logged in and see your list of titles, just click "Sales" at the top of the page, next to "Bookshelf."

- This is great, that you went through this yourself, and can teach it to others how to, and hopefully add an additional stream of income.
