I Love My Plants
I love my houseplants, especially the blooming ones. They bring sunshine and life into a room even in the dead of winter. Unfortunately I don't always have the time to pamper them the way I want to. I'm usually getting pulled in ten different directions. There's too much to do and too little time to do it. I don't stroll through my day. I sprint. A reminder to water my plants will pop into my head at odd times, but I'm usually in the middle of something. The thought will pop up again, but I'm usually caught up in another project by then. Thankfully many of my houseplants reside in self-watering flowerpots. They've saved the day and my plants time and time again.
The DO-IT-YOURSELF PLANTERS
Self-watering planters come in all shapes and sizes, but it's the smaller ones that I value the most. I love African Violets, but they are a small plant, and small plants need more attention. With proper care they will bloom most of the year. An irregular
watering schedule will drop the blooms faster than anything I know. With the self-watering flowerpots I don't have to worry about that.
They do the job for me.

Aqua Globes are an attractive solution for automatic houseplant watering. Fill he hand blown stained glass globes as the plant needs it. Aqua Globes are a great alternative to the daily chore of watering plants and an excellent choice for automatic watering while on vacation. How Aqua Globes Work As soil becomes dry, it releases oxygen into the Aqua Globe, which in turn releases the exact amount of water your plant needs.

My Herb Garden
Spring is almost here. Once again I will be setting up a small herb garden. Last year I have a dozen small planters with herb growing in them on my patio. They did well outside but keeping them watered was hard. The heat and the sun sucked up the water faster than I could pour it.
This year I'm going to try something new.
I like to use fresh herbs when cooking. Many of the herbs can be grown in flowerpots. Rather than have an assortment of planters, I'm putting my herb garden into one set of self-watering stackable
planters. It will be easier to keep them watered and when fall rolls around, I can bring it inside and continue to harvest herbs through the fall.
Three Tier Self Watering Stackable Planters
Stackable/Hangable All Season Garden Planter- Indoor/Outdoor Stacking Flower Pot - Color: Tuscany

Excellent for herbs and flowers. Works well on the patio as well as indoors. The self-watering feature adds a level of convenience that other planters lack.
Hanging Pots and Planters
Nothing speaks of summer better than planters on the patio with fragrant blooms dancing in the breeze. But as with the herb garden, keeping the flowers watered is a full time job. The sun and heat can destroy an unwatered planter full of flowers in no time flat. The self-watering planters don't negate the need to water, but they do give you a little leeway. If you're running late and don't get out there on time, they will not whither and die for lack of water.
Self Watering Planters is the Way to Go
I love my plants. It doesn't matter how busy I get, I will do what I can to keep them healthy and happy. I lose one occasionally, but the self-watering planters do help. I will not give up the planters I already have, but as I add to my collection of plants I tuck their roots into a self watering flowerpot.

- Boy I need these, as I always forget to water the plants, until they get really sickly looking.

- I have used the self watering planters several times before and I have wondered if the aqua bulbs would work as advertised. Now, if I could just remember to fill them. LOL

- One dying cactus and a phliademdrum I got when my father died. I don't think its possible to kill those.

- Oh, at the moment, I have none because of the inquiring cats! But I do like the idea of self-watering.

- I have a few huge houseplants, some of which are quite mature (one is just coming up to his 30th birthday), but I have less success with the smaller ones - probably because I forget to water them.
